Hello Saabman! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. The big 47 mm case size is part of the DNA of the brand. And most traditionalists Paneristi would go for this size.

Personally my biggest watches are around the 40/42 mm case size and don´t usually like bigger watches, but Panerai is an exception and I tolerate and love this big size for that reason: is part of their history and heritage.
Fortunately Panerai offer many options nowadays for those who like their designs but do not feel comfortable with the "standard" big 47 mm size. You can explore those watches with the so called "Bettarini" case of 44 mm, and the new lines of Submersibles in 42 mm as well as the smaller sized lines within the Luminor Due collection which includes cases of 38 and 42 mm.
I´m sure that you will find a watch you like among so many offerings of this beloved brand. Just take into account that regardless of their case size the different models Radiomir or Luminor types wear very different depending on the wrist size and shape of each owner due to de different lugs designs.
So you are doing the right thing in viewing in person the watches and trying them on your own wrist.
Good luck in your hunt and let us know which was your final choice!
Best cordial regards, Abel

...in which, if you wanted a Panerai, you'd have to buy what THEY produced. Nowadays they produce watches for....everybody. If your ideal model, doesn't exist NOW, be patient, soon you'll see in their windows
