It is mostly a question of light
It is a bit like blue hands that appear black unless they catch the light just right. In some instances the patina is more pronounced. However, it is not aged in the true sense so it will always have a particularly even look to.

I do like the dial of this PAM 376, but I actually wished it wasn't made of white gold and was made of the more traditional steel. Thanks Bill for your very descriptive photos as it clearly shows the dial and the application of the numerals.
