Interesting reading…
Oct 31, 2021,19:57 PM
I am reading some interesting books lately.
“El Italiano” is the latest novel from my beloved Spanish writer Arturo Perez Reverte.
It’s a romantic and full of thrilling action fiction novel which describes actions of Italian combat swimmers based in the ship Olterra docked in Algeciras dock against ships in near Gibraltar port during 1942/43 and the relationship between a young Spanish widow and an Italian diver.
Of course Panerai watches are mentioned!
I’m very fond of this extraordinary writer (several of his novels were made films) and I’m sure they have already translated this novel to English.
Another book…
This is a book which describes the organization, methods and equipment of the X MAS group in Italy. Very interesting reading of historical aspects of this pioneer employment in modern war of combat divers and the use of the famous “Maiale” piloted torpedoes.
The author and this original edition comes from Spain but most probably there exist an English version.
Third book is an Spanish translation of an original German book related to the story and exploits of Unit K German Combat swimmers during WW2 following instruction, tactics and equipment of X MAS Italian divers.
It includes thrilling descriptions of several historic missions like that of the Nimega bridges.
Wearing my Pams 721 and 422 while enjoying the reading!!
Have a nice week ahead my dear watch loving friends!!
Cheers!
