Panerai used to be an excellent case maker and was hosting beast movements eg rolex...
that is great history indeed... only you have to pay a lot for it.....
Eta is a different story with mixed opinions....
Modern Panerai has in-house movements but there are also mixed opinions.....
But we all agree.... great cases and a lot of fans of Panerai....

Another option is the PAM331 47mm Luminor 1950 Tourbillon in Titanium if you don't like the tobacco dial of the PAM306 Tourbillon. If you don't like the Luminor 1950 case, then you can look at the other Panerai tourbillons in the more dressy Radiomir case...
I have a 306 and it is the most beautiful piece I own...
the tourbillon on the back is just perfect for me as I'm pretty much the only one who knows "what's inside the watch" and the tobacco dial amazes me every time I look at it... This is probably the piece that will never leave me (unless life obliges me to)...
The best in terms of what?...
I consider myself a small collector and it's the best to me...which is why I bought it. But you know, who's best...Pelé or Maradona or Messi or Ronaldo or or or??? there's no right answer to that one!

IMO if you want to "dazzle" everyone who's into Panerai and has a glance at your wrist, you go for other models, not this one. If you want to buy a spectacular watch.....which also identifies you as a wealthy person, this one of those.. Cheers - Sergio

Panerai PAM365 Equation of Time Tourbillon w/ Star Chart on the back! 50mm but it fits great on the wrist IMO. Doesn't feel that much larger than a 47mm! Cheers, Anthony...

The only thing I have against vintage is the sky rocket prices
It's always very difficult for me to purchase anything when the price has climbed sky high since I missed the boat. That's the only reason holding me back on suggesting vintage pieces. Cheers, Anthony

loooove this watch! The platinum is very heavy almost to the point of being top heavy but it still is extremely comfortable. I have it on a JV strap and it brings out the gold colored hands. The watch keeps excellent time and it is fun to see the blue dot...

The PAM365 just came out and I don't think it's out in the market yet
Then again, it's a custom order piece, so if you want one, you have to custom order it. Price tag is very high (forgot exact price but was somewhere between $300k-$450k?) but you do get a beautiful Panerai w/ equation of time, tourbillon, and star chart. ...
