I dropped my 320 but mine is steel
Wasnt off a desk was a straight 8ft drop onto wooden stairs then one bounce onto the tiled floor. Was scared the repair bill would be massive. Managed to get a away with a movement service. Although my crown guard has a little ding in it and the 12 o 'clock side for changing straps is a little more time consuming.

I doubt they actually set the cost of a new case, and expect it is the same worldwide, relative to local currency of course. But I definitely feel for you; that seems totally out of line to me. BTW Brian, welcome here, and I hope you will have more posts ...
