I suspect it has more to do with the evolution of the workhorse models. I get the feeling the 44mm 1950 case may slowly replace the 44mm Luminor Marina case, and that the high dome of the 233/270 is simply too great a departure from the flat crystal of the Luminor Marina. We'll see I guess!

It's all about personal preference

I believe Panerai went with the flatter domed crystal in the P.900x
due to savings on cost. Costs more to produce the original domed 1950 cystals. Cheers, Anthony

I do wonder how significant the impact on Panerai's COGs and margin really is? (Seems like a relatively small cost reduction compared to margin, but a maybe a risky stylistic change to make to a number of models simultaneously?) Or am I obsessing? Best, J...
