A better INTRO!

I think I should share my PAM story with you so I will attempt to elaborate a little bit more!

I was around 1999, I was recently married and while on our honeymoon, my new wife and I got in an argument over something small and trvial (in other words, I can't even rememebr what it was about!) So I stormed out of the hotel room to cool off and was walking down the street and ended up in front of a Rolex dealer. I was really pissed at the time, and I said to myself, "WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!? LOL! so I walked into the Rolex AD and bought a brand new Sub. If memory serves me correctly, it cost me 3500.00) So I walk out the door, down the boulevard, and it hits me. I actually started feeling guilty. Here I am, a newlywed, I and I think about my poor wife and the dunb arguement me had ( I remember now, it was somethng about the way her mom looked...)

So, I think a bit, and I walk into the Louie Vuitton boutique and purchase a handbag for her. Bring it back, everyone is happy, although I had to hide the Sub for a while.....

Fast forward about 6 months....................I'm on business in Taiwan. I'm walking out the hotel room and I don't see the small step and trip. I must have loked like an idiot, but the Sub on my wrist hit the deck and the clasp suffered major damage. Once back in the states, I took the watch to a watchmaker that a friend recommended ( actually, becuase I was a WIS virgin atthe time, I didn't know that I could have had it sent to a ASC, but lucky me!!!!!! read on!). The watch maker told me to check back with him in a week.

So a week later, i go back to the watchmaker. The Sun looks good as new. I pay him and I'm about ready to leave and he says, "You look like a guy who can appreciate cool things, have a lok at these." He pulls out these huge, squarish-cased watches. one has a turning bezel with markings, a date and a little dial for the seconds, the other has a white dial and the little seconds dial. " have you ever seen these Panerai before?" I answer no. He says, "Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger wear these. I think these will be the next hot watch in the near future. " I'm like, okay buddy, whatever....

Then he askes, "How about a trade? you sub fort one of these?" I'm thinking, you're crazy right?!?!?! He takes the white dial watch out, liftst the funky little lever thngy, and starts winding it.

I ask, "You have to wind it?" What the hell kind of watch is that? You have to wind it?!?!?!?!??!?!!?

Well, for the next few weeks, I couldn't get those watches out of my head. i tried to find information, but the interner was still kind of in its infancy........

I called that watchmaker and asked him if he would sell me the white dial, which turned out to be a 0003D in NOS condition........................price.......2100.00 I bought it and wore it on my travels and endeavors...................

In 2002, I was in Asia on business and ran out of cash (long story). I went to this "higher-end" watch shop I found and sold the 003 for 2000.00, which got me out of a hole until I could return to the states.

For the next few years, I went through a few others, including an 86, a 61, 2 111, a 113 ( i think it's still my favorite), a Zero, a 183, and now a 112, which I've never owned before.

Panerai watches are timeless..........................................
