As mentioned earlier I already have a 40mm which I am very happy with and am waiting to receive a 44mm.
Whilst at the time I was aware that 44mm was the norm, I was still a little afraid that it was to big to wear and I settled for a 40mm.
Since we all know that once you have worn a Panerai you keep on looking at other models, with time the 44mm didn't look so big to me.
I think that the global trend is also for bigger watches which might have made my next 44mm choice easier.
I figure that when Panerai has not yet become your holy grail but you like the looks and want a sporty watch, guys like me might first settle for a 40mm as they have never worn a 44mm and simply consider that it is to big.
I have lots of colleagues at work that like watches same as me but they are all afraid or are sceptical about wearing big watches.
I guess that maybe you have to acquire the tast for them. Thus the 40mm probably has a bright future.

George
