What do you guys think?
Yes or No?
Make the 40mm line interesting? 40mm 1950 Luminor case?
Or will it remain the 40mm line continue to be the black sheep and continue to get no chatter or discussion in any of the Panerai discussion forums?
Cheers,
Anthony
My first Panerai is a PAM 119 and I remember being told that purchasing it was a mistake that only 44mm were real Panerai.
Well after a few years of wearing I am still very happy with my purchase.
I think that it is a good complement to the line as not everyone can wear a 44mm watch on their wrist.
I must conceed that the 44mm is more impressive.
When I receive my PAM 317 I will be in a position to compaire the two sizes side by side.

George
PS In the meantime have I purchased a Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk II Pro (I posted it on the GP Forum) and I have got to say that it is a very nice watch too. Didn't need it but couldn't resist to opportunity that was offered to me and my brother-in-law (we bought it together).
Correct, mon ami?

for men with small wrist and thats why there are so few models and dont think they will expand the line as a true panerai is to be big!
I hope for more 1950 47mm watches for next year.

I do hope too that there will be nothing but 47mm! Although i know that is impossible, but really when you think about it, in the beginning Panerai was ONLY 47mm and above, think the Egiziano 60mm, the mare nostrum 52mm, and all the original pams.
So i wonder why Panerai even compromised to reduce the size?
Cheers
Stephen
Because you will have to say NO to some wonderful watches, like the Pre V Logo or the Mare...
Rules are made to be broken, my friend.
Listen to the Lawyer, for once. : )))
Best.

As mentioned earlier I already have a 40mm which I am very happy with and am waiting to receive a 44mm.
Whilst at the time I was aware that 44mm was the norm, I was still a little afraid that it was to big to wear and I settled for a 40mm.
Since we all know that once you have worn a Panerai you keep on looking at other models, with time the 44mm didn't look so big to me.
I think that the global trend is also for bigger watches which might have made my next 44mm choice easier.
I figure that when Panerai has not yet become your holy grail but you like the looks and want a sporty watch, guys like me might first settle for a 40mm as they have never worn a 44mm and simply consider that it is to big.
I have lots of colleagues at work that like watches same as me but they are all afraid or are sceptical about wearing big watches.
I guess that maybe you have to acquire the tast for them. Thus the 40mm probably has a bright future.

George
However, they will continue to go with the 48, 49, 50...at least to maintain the position in the market.
Cheers
They are small for us die-hard Panerai fans but these 40mm models bring in new fans to the brand. My very first PAM was a 40mm Luminor Chrono and I never thought of wearing a 44mm until after I began wearing my 40mm and started reading up on Panerai watches.
WIthout 40mm PAM's, Panerai will limit the # of potential repeat purchase customers IMO.

Anthony
