You're most kind!

Hi Nico! Thank you for the warm welcome. You have no idea how much I enjoy reading your posts here and the amount of knowledge that I have been able to absorb thanks to your selfless sharing of all things JLC (and beyond). Thank you for doing what you do, and I look forward to a serendipitous occasion of somehow, someday, my gaining the great honour that is your acquaintance.
I must confess that I have been wanting to correspond with you privately for a long while now because of how closely acquainted you are with the Grande Maison and those under its roof and your apparently infinite knowledge about even the most obscure of topics/information that have been (and still are!) the cause of many sleepless nights of mine. You would be most gracious if you could so see yourself willing to entertain a lowly (but unashamedly passionate) lover of Jaeger-LeCoultre by dispensing some of your limitless expertise on some mysteries that so hours and hours of relentless research about which I've done have yielded only but naught.
Re. not needing to send it in for a service yet; you think so? I thought the prevailing practice (that seems to be even more espoused by veterans of this passion) was to not ignore service intervals even if the watch might seem to be performing perfectly fine, because it'll only end up making things worse down the line...
I'm really, really not looking forward to when I finally have to send it in, though! Basic service costs for this model itself are already high, and it'll probably end up costing me more as I foresee them insisting on changing the crown/pushers/whatever else. I wonder if I could insist on none of these parts being replaced (and accept that I would render the watch not certified as being water resistant as a result); or that they should rightfully return the old parts that have been replaced. I want everything that came with the watch in the beginning to still be in my possession--to me, they all constitute its identity and it doesn't sit right with me if I had to forfeit them. The Ship of Theseus is rather an à propos analogy that springs to mind...
It's evening here and this damn hangover is killing me, so I'm afraid all the stuff that I had planned to write here today will have to wait for another day. But I will make good on my promise to write more about this special little unicorn...I promise!

Master Calendar Boutique Exclusive "Edition Spéciale"

First post here! Just thought I'd share a photo or two of a very special watch to me; it's a particularly rare reference if I may say so myself! This is a 2006/2007 JLC boutique exclusive edition. The caseback is signed "Edition Spéciale." It's cased in s...

That‘s a nice piece. I love the classical Master Collection. And classical fountain pens too, by the way 😉👍🏻

Thank you, JLCman!

Thank you! It is indeed, it really is. This particular model actually holds a special place in my heart--the why of which I will divulge later on. I actually owned the "regular" silver dial version prior to this, too, and I didn't think I'd feel as sad as...

Very Nice!

I love that grey dial. It would go very well with a grey strap if you don't already have one. As far as sending it in for service, it sounds like you don't need to at this time.

Thank you, that's very kind!

That makes us both! I absolutely love the ruthenium. It's just so different from the "anthracite" that's used nowadays. It's got so much more character and nuance to it. Indeed it would! I have been thinking of getting such a strap--just like the one in t...

Thanks, eklektik!

Indeed, it's a bit of an oddball, this one (this particular Master Calendar model). I don't know definitively, but I have read from a few places that there are only 35 of this Special Edition reference that were made, and I'm still looking for any photos ...

Welcome to the forum!

Really nice watch. Love the brushed dial!

Hi Saz, thank you for the warm welcome!

And thank you for the kind words! Me too--I typically don't really like this sort of brushed finish, but in this case it's very subtle; very unlike the more shiny and striking one found on its successor, the current-generation Master Calendar in 39mm. Her...

This is why I chose to get this one

Will be travelling in February to collect it from my AD will share the live photos when I have it on the wrist. ...

Welcome here! Nice find. Enjoy it.

And I agree with the JLC mod. If it ain’t broke....why fix it? On the other hand, in that last few month I have heard a few master watchmakers say: a watch needs maintenance just like a car. So refresh the oil every now and then.

Zarium have you found out anything new about this boutique edition calendar?

Here, I'll share what I have about my own piece. I have a bit more information that's not here, but it's all written on loose leaf and not in digital format--maybe I'll transcribe it when I have time. Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Calendar Boutique Exclusive Sp...

Truth be told, it really could do with a service--I have to say I'm quite amazed that it's still keeping time well and the power reserve is still this healthy despite it never having been sent for a service. I'd always thought JLC's base calibre to be one...
