Master Calendar Boutique Exclusive "Edition Spéciale"

First post here!

Just thought I'd share a photo or two of a very special watch to me; it's a particularly rare reference if I may say so myself!

This is a 2006/2007 JLC boutique exclusive edition. The caseback is signed "Edition Spéciale." It's cased in stainless steel with a ruthenium plated dial. It shares the same 147.8.41.S case reference with the "regular" stainless steel version.

I'm the second owner, and this one was a very, very serendipitous find and pick up. It's never been sent for a service (it would definitely benefit from one!); which had gotten me a bit concerned at first, but it's keeping great time at +2 to -4 a day with a healthy power reserve of more than 42 hours. A quick examination of the movement shows that it's still rather clean...I know, I know, that's hardly a reliable indication--but I just don't want to be without it for months. sad

I've managed to compile quite a bit of info on this piece from all the hours of research I've done which I'll share later--gotta go right now!

Hi Nico! Thank you for the warm welcome. You have no idea how much I enjoy reading your posts here and the amount of knowledge that I have been able to absorb thanks to your selfless sharing of all things JLC (and beyond). Thank you for doing what you do,...

A warm welcome!

That‘s a nice piece. I love the classical Master Collection. And classical fountain pens too, by the way 😉👍🏻

Thank you, JLCman!

Thank you! It is indeed, it really is. This particular model actually holds a special place in my heart--the why of which I will divulge later on. I actually owned the "regular" silver dial version prior to this, too, and I didn't think I'd feel as sad as...

Very Nice!

I love that grey dial. It would go very well with a grey strap if you don't already have one. As far as sending it in for service, it sounds like you don't need to at this time.

Thank you, that's very kind!

That makes us both! I absolutely love the ruthenium. It's just so different from the "anthracite" that's used nowadays. It's got so much more character and nuance to it. Indeed it would! I have been thinking of getting such a strap--just like the one in t...

Thanks, eklektik!

Indeed, it's a bit of an oddball, this one (this particular Master Calendar model). I don't know definitively, but I have read from a few places that there are only 35 of this Special Edition reference that were made, and I'm still looking for any photos ...

Welcome to the forum!

Really nice watch. Love the brushed dial!

Hi Saz, thank you for the warm welcome!

And thank you for the kind words! Me too--I typically don't really like this sort of brushed finish, but in this case it's very subtle; very unlike the more shiny and striking one found on its successor, the current-generation Master Calendar in 39mm. Her...

This is why I chose to get this one

And I agree with the JLC mod. If it ain’t broke....why fix it? On the other hand, in that last few month I have heard a few master watchmakers say: a watch needs maintenance just like a car. So refresh the oil every now and then.

Zarium have you found out anything new about this boutique edition calendar?

I’m writing you as a brother of the same mysterious watch. 😁

Here, I'll share what I have about my own piece. I have a bit more information that's not here, but it's all written on loose leaf and not in digital format--maybe I'll transcribe it when I have time. Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Calendar Boutique Exclusive Sp...

Truth be told, it really could do with a service--I have to say I'm quite amazed that it's still keeping time well and the power reserve is still this healthy despite it never having been sent for a service. I'd always thought JLC's base calibre to be one...
