Friends, I had the chance to see one of the novelties from this year: The Jeager-LeCoultre Mater Control Date with black dial. Nicolas already presented this watch but I just wanted to share a couple of shots and some thoughts. Is black the new black? We ...  

It is a bit outdated, now. And in the MUT cases, there are some ( from the biggest ) which could be easily used for a new Master Line... As for the dial, very nice. The matching date window is an interesting detail, too. Thanks for the post, Blomman. Nico... 

Very different from many other JLC black dials.... Compared with the Master Memovox International which is the latest balck Master in my collection, it is like night and day! The MMI have a very glossy dial, hard to captur good in photos. Best Blomman

... possibly the most impressive JLC debut at this year's SIHH. While I've declared my love for the MGTTCQP, I'll gladly admit that this black dialed Master Control accomplishes the greatest visual impact with the greatest economy of details. It's imposin... 

+1 on re-discovering the history & DNA of the Master series. On a humble personal note I still honor my Master Moon Calendar & Master Geographique from years 1982 -84. It\'s these fine watches, when for me there is a lot of LGM\'s treasureful past present...

The black date was a nice change up. This rotor look is very old. And used across multiple brands. Something new here would IMO be another differentiator. Agree with the comments about the case too. Best Joe

I love black faces I love JLC and I love master control. This watch doesn't work for me. I think one problem may be the bezel, so thick and contrasty on this one. If I wanted a round black JLC it would be the Aston martin master hometime. That design work... 

Feelings before I saw this one in the metal... AfterI saw it, I am still undecided..... So, yes something still missing! Maybe with the case of the Master Moon this dial would pop?! Best Blomman

When I first saw this post yesterday on my iPhone's small screen, for a second I hought it was a Mark 11. The thickness of the silver bezel relative to the diameter of the black dial. Possibly a shinier thinner bezel or a larger dial. And the whiteness of... 

As the MC..... Bu I prefer the movement of the Mk 11! The bezel on the Master Moon is much thinner.... More like a step bezel. Best Blomman ...

i would have preferred a simple 3 instead of a date window. A nicer rotor would have been a huge plus as well. I do like black dates on black dials however, nice touch. but on modern dress watches i find date a tad superfluous.... just my 5c very nice pic... 

That you don't need the date on this classic dress watch.... But, without the date this watch becomes very similar to some of the UT watches.... Best Blomman

... I gotta say with the black dial it is simply beautiful. And the date is much more legible than the readily available Master Control (I'm wearing mine right now). That's my two cents. - Scott

but after looking at it in the London boutique it left me disappointed. The date, bezel and overall felt a bit dated.

Not like.... The dial - I am not sure... I do love black dials, but this one .... Not sure! Interesting is that in this thread it looks like 50/50 between For/against.... Often we see a clear for or against.... Best Blomman
