Jaeger Lecoultre Memovox Cal 914 manual movement.

 By: amanico : July 6th, 2016-00:02
Here is the exact configuration I am looking for ( Credit picture: Sotheby's ) : Tritium dial. Add a full set, box and papers, and here we are. Why do I prefer the tritium version? For the warm patina of its indices. Which works very well with the red cir...

I really well known this one Nicolas ;-)

 By: Alkiro1 : July 6th, 2016-00:07
Excellent choice. Best wishes Alkiro

You will not be disappointed ;-)

 By: Alkiro1 : July 6th, 2016-00:21
If I can have a very little drawback it would be the case size. As the dial is black, a 38mm case size instead of 36mm would have been better but... that is not disturbing at all. Best wishes Alkiro

Yes nothing is certain but watches with 46 or 48mm would totally disappear. They were only made for people who wanted to show an expensive watch on their wrist. Nothing else!

 By: Alkiro1 : July 16th, 2016-15:50
Some days ago, I went to the Geneva Piaget shop to try the 900P and I discussed with the salesperson about watch case sizes. I told her that I was very happy to see Piaget makes this model in 38mm. She replied me that most of clients wanted bigger watches...

90% yes it is show off for me. May be we are not agree about this specific point but that is my opinion

 By: Alkiro1 : July 16th, 2016-16:00
We are collectors but it is far too be the case of 90% of the other customers. Best wishes Alkiro

So, for you, the owner of a Minerva Pilot chronograph, with a Cal 19.9 CH, is a show off?

 By: amanico : July 16th, 2016-23:38
Same for the owner of a vintage Panerai 6154 or 3646 or 2533 or 6152? Same for a Vacheron Tour de L'Ile? Or Ulysse Nardin Freak Diavolo ( 45 mm ) ? Best, Nicolas

We always can find examples and opposite ones. I am not here to hurt anyone. Just think that our buying considerations are not the majority ones. Why case sizes have increased so much in just 20 years?

 By: Alkiro1 : July 16th, 2016-23:56
Why the average case size which was 35 or 36mm on average at the beginning of the 90s and now 40 or 42mm? Do you think that is because our wrists have increased so much? Watch brands answer to a certain demand because it is a market like another one. Best...

This one is a marvel!

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 6th, 2016-03:02
Mine do only have Swiss Made but the patina is quite watm/creamy. As for the crowns, agree not the most elegat crowns. Would have prefered more like the crowns on the Parking. Best Blomman

This is a true winner Nicolas! Size, tritum, red circling indexes, etc. make for a ...

... most charming timepice. Regret when watch maker firms abandon this kind of details in their present line. I wish you´ll find yours! Cheers! Abel.

Mine's missing the all important T

 By: jml_watches : July 6th, 2016-11:25
Hi Until I looked closer at your shot - was wondering how to differentiate between versions. Then I noticed the T either side is Swiss Made. Mine doesn't have the box, but I do have papers. Saw it in shop window and was instantly drawn to it, but needed t...

Do you have an idea of numbers produced for each version? T & non T

 By: jml_watches : July 6th, 2016-11:43
I know there was a White dialed version, but not sure if that had a solid back instead Cheers JML

1164 pieces black dial steel on strap. 64 pieces black dial steel on bracelet.

 By: amanico : July 6th, 2016-12:57
But no distinction between the tritium and the luminova... My guess is that the tritium is rarer, due to the fact that they have to stop using tritium quite early in the production of this model. Best, Nicolas

Thanks

 By: jml_watches : July 6th, 2016-14:12
Hadn't realised they made so few. If they're numbered sequentially I think mine is towards end of the run. Cheers JML

a unique Memovox!

Seems I missed this one :)

 By: KMII : July 16th, 2016-05:24
Great watch - tried one of them some months ago and was very pleased with how it looked on me Definitely a nice reference - I guess another HW Memovox would be due? And to make it really exciting, in a Reverso case?

Too bad [nt]

 By: KMII : July 16th, 2016-10:22

Not quite on the hunt, but thanks to you it's now one of many on my ever growing wish list ;)

I\'ll be very happy to see yours in the metal once you find it!

My pleasure. [nt]

It is such a beauty

 By: cfn : July 20th, 2016-07:51
Hi Nicolas, Thank you for writing about this beauty on a regular basis. It is such an nice watch, despite its smallish size. I wasn\'t aware of the different versions. I certainly learned something new today, thank you. And mine is the T version... Best, ...

Aah, Claus, good to read you again.

 By: amanico : July 20th, 2016-07:54
And thanks for posting your very nice specimen. Exactly the configuration I am hunting... Best, Nicolas

For me, this is the Memovox to own

 By: syf : July 28th, 2016-03:25
This is such a spectacular Memovox, the black dial, no date (!) and best of all the exhibition caseback are the biggest attractions. Is it me or is seeing the gong of the Memovox alarm ring a little like the joy of seeing a minute repeater. The one concer...

I tend to agree. This is an unique Memovox as I don't know any other MODERN manual winding.

 By: amanico : July 28th, 2016-10:50
Now I will have hard time deciding between this one and the TT DSA. Both would be my answer. As for the lugs, no, I don't feel they are out of proportion at all!

I got one and I need some help

 By: JeanLouisCharles : April 14th, 2017-13:23
Hello, I 'm new on this forum. I recently bought a memovox with cal 914 and silver dial. I really love this watch but the way the alarm system works on my watch seems strange. if anybody has this 36mm manual memovox, i would like to ask a few questions to...

I will try to explain the problem as precisely as i can

 By: JeanLouisCharles : April 14th, 2017-14:11
I ve been told that the watch is supposed to work like this : the alarm rings when the hour hand reaches the alarm index. and during 30 to 60 minutes after that, the watch is still making some noise when you move it, meaning that the hammer is still free ...

It is not a modern movement. The Cal 918 has its origins in the Cal 916 from the late 60's early 70's.

 By: amanico : April 15th, 2017-03:01
The Cal 914, your movement, is a Cal 918 with the removed rotor and automatic parts. So, not a modern movement. Best, Nicolas

so it is normal that it always makes some noise

 By: JeanLouisCharles : April 15th, 2017-03:57
when I shake/move the watch even when it is not the alarm time window ?

Yes, for a while... [nt]

 By: amanico : April 15th, 2017-16:49

for a while ?

 By: JeanLouisCharles : April 16th, 2017-02:42
do you mean that it stops making noise after 30 or 60 minutes ( as it is supposed to do) or few hours later ? mine is very noisy during 30-60 minuted after the alarm is on (which is normal) but keeps making that little jungle noise until the next alarm ho...

Re:

 By: bchankai : April 22nd, 2017-00:21
If the alarm spring is not wound, the hammer will be loose and will hit the gong as it passively moves, making a slight ring. If that bothers you, you can always give the alarm a quarter wind, and that will be enough tension to keep the hammer from moving...

One available

Hi Nicolas, there is one FSOT in WUS forum in case you are still interested. Send you the reference by PM!

Did you find one yet?

 By: AdamVintage : July 25th, 2018-16:37
After much searching I’ve realized that collectors are holding onto t or no t. So I finally got mine. No t. But I think you might be surprised. The lume is still bright and I think they did something to it to make it patina. Anyhow it’s fantastic, I’ve ha...

Lucky punch...

 By: Ambos : July 26th, 2018-08:20
Stumbled across one just 2w ago and got it this week... and I can tell why you are so excited about it! A pure dial, no unnecessary interruptions on the dial, perfect symmetry. Thanks for planting the bug Nicolas ;o) ...

Crystal back or solid on this one?

Just some background, for some reason, I regretfully sold my silver dial master memovox reveil. After my tears had dried, I realized what I had done, so I set my eyes on a greater prize, the ref. 144.8.94 S. I'm not a professional photographer by any mean...
