Usually I'm quite reserved about this type of event ... Too staid, too pretentious ...
It has been a long time since I turned away from hype social events if it ever interested me other than to add a pinch of salt ... or pepper.
I generally avoid exhibition openings because my pleasure of contemplating is usually spoiled by overcrowding, noise or silly remarks from some mindless guests.
Yet here I must say that I was surprised.
Of course I had my buddy Nico with whom I shared a lot of things in terms of lifestyle, so I wasn't going to end up like an alien on a new planet.
Certainly, I know the Jaeger LeCoultre events since it is not the first in which I have participated ... my love for this brand having led me to visit a few ....
However, I must say that this one was particularly successful.
I have rarely had the feeling of being greeted in a refined but not pretentious way. it was almost family.
I particularly appreciated the accessible side and the listening skills of Catherine Renier, ceo or even that of Sophie Gatric, ceo France. what a pleasure to have been able to compare our point of view on the brand, on the models produced and the evolution of design with which I am not always in tune. When intelligence, kindness and beauty come together…. we can almost fall in love ...
And it was the same with other JLC managers with whom I had a good time discussing details which for some are trivial but which for me make all the difference: the too sharp side of the f numbers of the Polaris . , the absence of pillar and heritage models that would last beyond each new collection, the sometimes unreasonable price positioning,… there was no tablou subject and that was very appreciable from my point of view.
on this point I have to say it was flawless.
I also had the pleasure - and should have started with this point - to see familiar faces unmasked with the feeling that it had been forever. what a pleasure to see again Guillaume Forrest the Zebulon from the Lyon boutique, what a joy to have a good time with Cécile Tinchant, my friend who is in charge of digital for la grande Maison ...
The place was also very beautiful, the champagne rather well chosen and the delicacies ... small exception ... the lack of acoustic treatment of the cafe which made the place far too noisy bordering on unpleasant.
On the music side, the atmosphere was appropriate with a beautiful blonde on the decks who mixed eclectic songs ...
The choice of a multi-story venue was excellent. He allowed me to visit the exhibition in peace while the guests tasted their glass of champagne: brilliant.
Lots of beautiful pieces ... even if it was always too little ...
On the other hand, each watch was placed in a large display case and therefore far from view. I understand this choice for an exhibition, because it allows several people to look at the piece at the same time. However, it was really difficult to admire the details. also impossible to take pretty pictures with the ubiquitous spotlights and protective glasses…
However, I tried ... sorry for the poor quality of the pictures ...
There was also Antoine's workshop which had moved ... a great initiative even though I had already played watchmaker at the manufacture a few years ago.
A big thank you to the manufacture for the work done to receive us. Thanks also to Nico for supporting me. We had a great time before eating pizza, playing with the Deep Sea and sharing over a cup of tea the next day.
