Nico, don't hold out on us...
As for the Geophysic being the Ingenieur - yes, that seems apropos.
Possibly a better metaphor than a 007 watch... As I see it, the 007 chap is more an action man who turns into the perfect (well, not so perfect; he is always killing Bad Guys and seducing Ze Ladies) gentleman. Black tie to casual flying garb to Speedos. Given how much time he spends in combat and/or underwater, a dressy diving watch makes sense.
But I am not sure I know quite who the Ingenieur or Geophsyic is aimed at.
Engineer dudes with well-brushed hair from the 1950s with crisp shirts, white lab jackets and pocket-protectors who talk confidently about nuclear engineering in clipped tones?
Grizzled explorers wearing khaki, who tell stories of wrestling with lions?
Businessmen, not the CEO in a cashmere jumper relaxing with a Patek perpetual calendar, but no-nonsense directors wearing more sensible wool suits?
What other wonderful stereotypes can we conjure up? Hehe!
