thank you! I did in fact retire last year and am now happily enjoying my retirement. I'm pleased to be able to do so at an age where I hope I shall continue to find ways of being active whether physically or intellectually!

When I lived in Japan it was similarly common for Westerners to have their names in Japanese characters which were a phonetic approximation of the pronunciation of the name. I knew a rather portly Englishman who asked the Japanese staff in his office to p...
