I can understand your feelings well. This is a very nice, less formal version of the Geographique.
Had no chance to see it in the ral so far, but it looks very promising.
Maybe even better than the Geophysic UT? I had some close looks at the latter, and it was very nice. Liked the dead seconds complication a lot. But in the it was the lack of readability that kept me back. The hands easily vanish against the beautifully made world map. And readability is a sine qua non for me in a watch that calims to be a practical one.
The Polaris Geographique might even be the nicest from the Polaris line. The other ones after seeing them in the metal I honestly find a little bit predictable, lacking some originality. As if they tried to be everybody's darling. Which is certainly ok from a marketing point of view. In the end JLC want to sell them in numbers and I can imagine they do. But for the spoiled and demanding watch nut there might be missing something special. From your pictures it looks like the Geographique could be the one adding that interesting touch.
Looking forward to see it one day.
Thank you for the review and a Merry Christmas!
Best, Martin
