Night shots within

Jan 31, 2012,20:35 PM

I chose this one over the Navy Seal models because for me personally I really like the blue accents on the watch as opposed to the all black of the Navy Seals' watches. The other thing that really swayed me (I know this is going to sound funny) is that I really think the hands on the Navy Seals' models make the watches look cheap whereas the ones on the MCD Chrono look amazing. Please let me know if I can provide any more information to help you.

I took the pics with my iPhone 4S. Hope they are okay.

Jaeger LeCoultre vs Omega Help

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 28th, 2012-00:19
Let me start by first saying that I was originally just looking at the new Omega Planet Ocean Chrono Titanium Liquid Metal. I have never owned an Omega but I have heard that this particular model was very big, thick and heavy on the stainless steel versio...

omega in this case

 By: cuibono : January 28th, 2012-05:33
i had a planet ocean, which i loved till it disappeared, and i have a jlc extreme world chrono. i only say this to express my bona fides: i love watches from both brands. in this particular comparison, i think the omega is more versatile. as a strictly ca...

Agree completely

 By: ingmar : January 28th, 2012-08:01
The JLC is just too sporty for my tastes. I've owned 2 Planet Ocean watches. The design is a great mix of classic, modern, sport and the new business. But for me they felt too thick. This was with the 2500 calibre so the 8500 is out for me. But it sure lo...

I've just responded to your other thread on the Omega forum.

Sorry about the late reply. Was out doing errands the whole afternoon. Please have a look there also. Ruckdee

As a watch connoisseur you are, you already know the answer. :)

Seriously, only a comparison in the real will answer to your question. I have no favourite, here. It is just a personal matter, which will be revealed by an " in the real " experience. Keep us updated! Best, Nicolas

2 other JLC vs Omega

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 28th, 2012-12:36
I took another look at JLC again and came across two other models that I think might be nicer than the original I mentioned and posted. Master Compressor Diving Chronograph GMT Navy SEAL 46mm and the Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy SEAL 44mm. They bot...

The 2d one is not a Chronogaph, but an Alarm. 44 mm case.

 By: amanico : January 28th, 2012-12:39
My favourite among all those you showed... But it is just my taste, and all will depend of you, of your wrist, too. See them in the real, you will know. Best, Nicolas

the jlcs are gorgeous

 By: cuibono : January 28th, 2012-14:14
the jlcs you picture are fantastic. i've seen one person, and it was great. but i don't think, as i mentioned earlier, it works well in a more formal/business context, and they are pretty thick. i still think the omega might suit your needs better.... chr...

Cuibono, I think you are right

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 28th, 2012-20:02
The Omega does seem to work better for alternating between dress and sport. Now its going to come down to which watch fits my wrist nicer and which one is better made at this time.

Well....

 By: watchme : January 30th, 2012-08:13
I own the Navy Seals Chrono GMT on the articulated rubber (your first picture of it) and LOVE it! I find that it can go dress or sport, due to the black bracelet, dial and bezel. I do like the PO LM - but I like the chrono on the blue rubber best, which i...

I'm with our two friends above. The Alarm for me please.

 By: Ruckdee : January 28th, 2012-17:37
Compared to the Chronograph, the Alarm looks cleaner and pleasing to me. Plus I own many chronographs and zero alarm at this moment. Ruckdee

I too have a few Chronos

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 28th, 2012-20:07
I do have one with an alarm, but it's not very loud so I might as well not even have it on the watch. It's an original Ventura. Like the watch and has lasted me a long time without any problems, but the alarm on it doesn't sound loud at all. Your point is...

JLC Master Compressor Alarm

 By: nitediver : January 29th, 2012-13:33
It is loud enough to be heard from what I remember. It is great and on my "must have" list. However certainly too big for the sleeves of a business shirt. same goes for the Blancpain fifty fathmos. Phantastic watch for sports and great for diving. I owe o...

nitediver, good to know

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 29th, 2012-21:54
It's loud enouph then to wake me from a nap or to remind me of something that I need to do. Thank you.

I " hear " you, if I may say. ;) [nt]

For me the choice is very easy...

 By: nwp627 : January 29th, 2012-13:26
...an alarm complication is more useful than a chrono and since the JLC alarm model you indicated has a timing bezel it can also do both.

nwp627, very good points

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 29th, 2012-21:37
and I had not even thought of the timeing bezel. Thank you.

NSA for me

 By: sgexpat : January 29th, 2012-12:52
First of all, you can't go wrong with these options. It really does come down to your preference. That said, I agree with several commenters who say the MCDC will be a struggle in a dress up situation. I can't see it working with a suit but I guess some p...

sgexpat, I wasn't aware

amanico, do you still have your NSA?

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 29th, 2012-21:49
Can you tell me how durable this JLC watch is? Is it shock resistent? I know it's a 44mm but How thick is this JLC watch? The Omega is 45.5mm and 19.5mm thick. I hope its not as thick or thicker. Thanks.

I didn't hit it on a wall, but

 By: amanico : January 29th, 2012-21:52
This is one of my favourite summer watch which I bring with me everywhere... No problems about its " normal " shock resistance. I don't have here, with me, the exact thickness, but I'd say 15 mm. I still have it in my collection. Best, Nicolas

watch sizes

 By: quattro98 : January 30th, 2012-09:32
I don't know if you have the chance to try these watches on, but if at all possible, please try to see them in person. The new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean chrono is very thick (as you've posted). Based on the size & thickness of all of these watches,...

Yves007, great pic of Bill Clinton

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 29th, 2012-21:45
wearing JLC MCA. Looks pretty good if I say so myself. I didn't even know that Bill Clinton wore JLC. That's really nice to see. Thank you.

doubleup, do you own one of these JLC's?

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 31st, 2012-11:30
If you do, which one? Can you post some pics to see it. I am very interested to see how bright the luminescence is on the MCA NS. I would also like to know how long it last laminated. I know that superliminova is bright and stays lite for a very long time...

I cannot help you there, perhaps mcio2 can answer that. Valid concerns but JLC..

 By: doubleup : January 31st, 2012-13:01
usses the best I am sure, have seen in the flesh and the lum pops, more than the B&R lum IMHO and I like what they use.

I have the JLC MCD Chrono......

mcio2, Congratulations for owning a beautiful time piece.

I would be happy to post some pics in the meantime...

I posted some pics when I first got the watch. They can be found here. jlc.watchprosite.com I'll try to remember to take some in the dark tonight. It has a really nice strong lume to it. I haven't really spend a long time with it in the dark, so I am not ...

mcio2, The pictures look great.

 By: Watch Connoisseur : January 31st, 2012-16:56
I would defenetly like to see some night shots of the watch. If you don't mind me asking, what made you choose this model over soome of the others ( navy seal gmt, alarm, etc...)? Thank you.

Yves007, These are fantastic photos.

The luminescence looks great. Do you know how long the luminescence stays lite (1hr-12hr)? The watch lookes in great shape. It looks like nothing has happend to it. Do you wear it frequently? Thank you for the photos and your comments.

Yves007, that is amazing.

 By: Watch Connoisseur : February 1st, 2012-11:24
The watch looks very good. You must take very good care of it. I have been trying to find the post about the caliber in the watch, but I can't seem to find it. Would you happend to know where I need to look? So more or less how long does the luminescence ...

Yves007, Have a couple of questions.

 By: Watch Connoisseur : February 2nd, 2012-22:25
Thank you for the photos, especialy the ones with the LUM. It shows me how bright it is. So the LUM stays lite several hours? That's good enough for me. Which version do you own? Is it the limited edition (boutique) or the regular LE 1500? Have you had an...

I'll try my best to answer...

My timepiece has a titanium bracelet which is part of the limited serie of 1500. The Boutique versions do not have a titanium bracelet. Nothing to be concerned of. I will only bring my timepiece back to the AD this summer in order to have the bezel cranke...

Yves007, A crisp bezel?

 By: Watch Connoisseur : February 3rd, 2012-13:56
Do you mean that some of the pieces had bezels that felt to loos when turning it or does it feel hard and rough when turning it? I want to purchase the one like yours with the titanium bracelet. It seem to look a little nicer for when you want to dress up...

Indeed, it felt to loose when turning [nt]

Limited Series of 1500?

 By: Watch Connoisseur : February 4th, 2012-01:28
What exactly is ment by Limited Series of 1500? Does this mean that they make 1500 total and that is it? or Does it mean that they make 1500 a year? or Is it 1500 in each different strap style? Just curious, has anyone tried using the alarms feature while...

+1 on JLC [nt]
