Let me start by first saying that I was originally just looking at the new Omega Planet Ocean Chrono Titanium Liquid Metal. I have never owned an Omega but I have heard that this particular model was very big, thick and heavy on the stainless steel version. This is why I thought the titanium liquid metal would work better for me since I am not used to wearing something too heavy. I also was intrigued with their new in house 9300 caliber movement. There have been so many people talking about it I also figured that with the combination of new technology (liquid metal, ceramic, titanium and new in house movement) that this would be a great watch to purchase. Another thing that I liked about the Omega is that I wanted something that I can wear for both sporting activities and more elegant for when you dress up a little nicer. The problem that I am having is that this particular Omega watch cost $10,600 dollars retail. Even though I have never owned an Omega it just seems a bit much for me to pay for this watch. I started asking around and others agreed that it is a bit high to pay for an Omega. I also got a few responses saying that even though the price is a bit high that it is well worth it because of the new in house movement and technology that Omega is using. I then got a couple of suggestion telling me that for that price I should be looking for something better like a JLC Master Compressor Diver with or without Chrono or Blancpain FF. I had never really thought of that so I started looking. I ended up liking the JLC MC Diver Chronograph in titanium 44mm. The one thing that I have noticed is that the model that I like has been out for a while and that it is not very easy to find anymore. Also, this particular model is made of matted titanium and looks very sporty, but doesn’t seem like you can wear it for more elegant occasions. Now I know JLC has a very good reputation when it comes to making great time pieces, but how would this compare to the new Omega? Does this JLC still stand above Omega or does Omega win on this model due to its new technology and movement?
I would really like to hear your thoughts and suggestions. This would be a big purchase so I would like to make sure that my money is being spent well.

Seriously, only a comparison in the real will answer to your question.
I have no favourite, here.
It is just a personal matter, which will be revealed by an " in the real " experience.
Keep us updated!

I took another look at JLC again and came across two other models that I think might be nicer than the original I mentioned and posted.
Master Compressor Diving Chronograph GMT Navy SEAL 46mm and the Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy SEAL 44mm.
They both look good but I think the 46mm might be an issue as with the Omegas 45.5mm.
Looking at these two JLC models can you give me your input on them vs Omega and what your personal choice would be?

I do have one with an alarm, but it's not very loud so I might as well not even have it on the watch. It's an original Ventura. Like the watch and has lasted me a long time without any problems, but the alarm on it doesn't sound loud at all. Your point is well taken. Have you heard the alarm on the JLC? is it loud enough to actully hear it?
It's loud enouph then to wake me from a nap or to remind me of something that I need to do. Thank you.
and I had not even thought of the timeing bezel. Thank you.
First of all, you can't go wrong with these options. It really does come down to your preference.
That said, I agree with several commenters who say the MCDC will be a struggle in a dress up situation. I can't see it working with a suit but I guess some people probably do pull it off... after all I've seen folks wearing U-Boat 50mm watches to work.
If I had to pick I'd say go with the Navy Seals Alarm. This is a more unique watch than either the PO or the MCDC, just my two cents. It does work with a suit, sort of, I recall Bill Clinton wore this onto a talk show and pulled it off nicely. It was not too loud.
Can you tell me how durable this JLC watch is? Is it shock resistent?
I know it's a 44mm but How thick is this JLC watch?
The Omega is 45.5mm and 19.5mm thick. I hope its not as thick or thicker.
Thanks.
This is one of my favourite summer watch which I bring with me everywhere...
No problems about its " normal " shock resistance.
I don't have here, with me, the exact thickness, but I'd say 15 mm.
I still have it in my collection.

Nicolas
If you do, which one? Can you post some pics to see it. I am very interested to see how bright the luminescence is on the MCA NS. I would also like to know how long it last laminated. I know that superliminova is bright and stays lite for a very long time, but I don’t know what kind of luminescence this JLC watch contains. If you have any information for me please let me know. Thank you.
Can you post some pics of it when you have a chance I would love to see them. Can you take some in the dar? I would love to see the luminescence on it. I would like to see how bright the Lum is. Does it stay laminated for a very long time or just a few minutes? Any information you have would be wonderful. Thank you.
