IWC

FedEx Stloe my watch . IWC 3717 ref: 3187372 Oct 11, 2008 - 01:35 PM

A word of warning to UK sellers shipping out of the country:

On Thursday 2nd of October I shipped the IWC to a dealer in Amsterdam that I had sold the watch to. On Friday Fedex contacted me to say that somewhere en-route to the Amsterdam fedex depot the box had been opened and the watch stolen.

I heard today that they have now closed the investigation and I have to put in for compensation, and here is the kicker, the max I can put in for is $500 .

I found it impossible to find a courier service, including the Royal Mail and Parcel force, that will ship a watch insured for its full amount. I went with Fedex because, in my naivety, I believed them to be the best company, and over nighted with it being scanned all the way I assumed that it would be safe. I even expressed my concerns to the clerk in the Fedex office and he just looked at me and said " We are fedex sir, of course it will be fine ".

So if any one comes across an IWC Pilots Chrono ref 3717 , model 3187372 then this piece is stolen.

I would love to hear from any UK sellers about the shipment methods they use for international transactions.

Regards. James.
