The made in Germany moniker was coined shortly after unification in the 19th century, way before the split prior to WW2 👍🏻

Both the Brain clock you mentioned and the Porsche Design IWC era. Miss that period 😊🤷🏻‍♂️

These watches from IWC may be small (I own both), but they are sooo comfy. The chrono with the „Desmopan“-strap has been my travel-watch for many years. The strap is incredibly durable with no wear or tear since > 10 years. ...  

I would be keen to try the rubber version

You need to cut it to size and thats it. Only one chance to fit it without IWC-service.
