I am looking for some understanding of the appeal of this watch. I have read several posts and articles about the watch. I just do not understand the great appeal or attract. Perhaps someone can explain some detail or viewpoint that I am missing.

Every aspect of it is done to the limits of human skill, it is the brainchild of one designer in its entirety, and it suffers no compromises for marketing or price considerations. The mechanism it uses is designed specifically for ultimate accuracy, stabi... 

If this was meant for ultimate accuracy, why is it that a specimen i saw and handled personally was clocking in +12 secs/24 hours in JUST under 2 years? Stability; i have to admit my because i am unfortunate to own one up till now i cannot comment accurat...

This has been discussed here before. It's not 100% hand made. If I remember: case, dial, crystal etc are bought in: wheels and plates are sub-contracted and finished in house. Someone else can probably fill in the gaps or you can search this forum. Probab... 

It's probably the subject of confidentiality obligations, but I can imagine what good copy it would be to be able to say, "we make the movement for the SImplicity".

Dufour makes the movement from unfinished components that are manufactured to order by different suppliers. As he's totally unknown outside a tiny sub-clique of the high-end watch world the advertising value is zilch, imho nick

Continuing in a serious vein, is the finish and attention to detail so much better than any other watch? Is the movement that much superior to others? Thanks for indulging me on this topic.

the finish as doese Dufour. Just imagine the slots of the screws are beveled. The part of the plate where the brand name and watch n? are screwed on have perlage..I can go on and on...

If you can put a Lange or a Patek next to a Simplicity, you will be able to see the differences in the finishing of the respective movements. Please, don't get me wrong: I am in no way trying to put down PP or Lange's finish, which are both outstanding in... 

Thanks for all of the clarification. I do see this watch as worth having, but not at this time given other watches in that price range. Perhpas I will be able to own one or see one, someday.

But just in case: ahci.watchprosite.com I was a skeptic about the Simplicity myself for quite a while, but visiting with Mr. Dufour gave me a much greater appreciation and I began spending the time to understand this piece better. Even upon first ...

And so misunderstood.

It does nothing to me, it doesnt leave me cold just does not call out to me! I have held an studied one close up and can appreciate it but was the finishing any better than other watches I have also held? I am not so sure on this question... Maybe the ans... 

Somehow, after years of looking at various watch designs, the 3 hand one (small secs) seems close to perfection. Any thing else seems added on, & actually takes away from the overall beauty, IMHO. fnk

... which I assume to be that in which you mostly wear your watch. For me, I would tend to agree (three hands), given the same terms (ie the context in which I mostly wear my watch, though that might be a different context ;p), although I haven't decided ... 

But it is a watch for the people who want a 3 handed watch..period. And a good one. I would personally go for a Grand Seiko, because it has Dufour there on the "team"..seriously. And it is 10% of the price.
