The kind of watch that makes this hobby worthwhile...

Jun 26, 2020,12:14 PM

I think this watch will be a legend in collector circles for years.

Things I love, specifically:

-The movement, for not only its finishing (especially the great steelwork, and tasteful combination of finishes), but also for the functional improvements made to the base ebauche (not the least of which is the in-house free-sprung balance).
-The case, for not only its proportions but also its execution (high-Palladium WG and great finishing).
-The dial, which calls to mind my favorite vintage chronos from Longines.

Sadly out of my range!

Best,

Brandon

Do you mean that the whole surface is polished, instead of the 45 degree angle on the edge? If I'm wrong, can you explain it?

I'm curious about your comment about anglage, could you please explain?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 26th, 2020-16:05
Here is what SJX says: "And then all of the parts, new and old, are decorated by hand to a degree comparable to the most prominent names in independent watchmaking, like Voutilainen for instance" Most would agree, so I want to learn your view.

I'm going to ask for clarification here, as I don't happen to agree...

Why do you state "the anglage is particularly poor" when you are examining their work from photos? Are you a watchmaker or otherwise involved in the watchmaking world as a fine hand finisher of watch parts ,with which to pass judgement so damning as you c...

and it seems a 2 register model would be around 70.000 euros which seems reasonable for a one-off rattrapante chrono with such artisanal work.

Looks amazing at first glance...my only 2 issues:

 By: vitalsigns : June 26th, 2020-15:30
1) balance cock seems too angular and poorly styled relative to the rest of the sensual movement. Should have been more curved/sensual. 2) thickness. Not sure of the specs, but it looks massively thick.

It’s not thick

 By: lim87c : June 26th, 2020-21:34
Not thick at all. Only 2.5mm more than a Daytona. ...

I consider that quite a thick watch; but then again, I’m sensitive to thickness when it comes to wearing comfort. Thanks for the profile pic. Cheers, John

A beautiful execution frontside and back. Love the dial... no chopped off numerals, love the selection of hands and a well chosen case.

However I would personally willingly go to more phenomenal and amazing rattrapante (ALS, FPJ, PP) or better vintage beauty rattrapante (MinervaB), or better value ingenious rattrapante (Habring & IWC).

The anglage question is the most interesting. If it's not a problem, I may start a new thread on the topic of AdC's anglage. I had provided pictures of AdC's anglage to a watchmaker with a proposal. If there's something wrong, it could be a problem. That'...
