Stephen, you hijacked the thread! Kidding...
I find some of the statements in your post, Stephen... kind of unfortunate. Not your opinions, of course. That's what we're here for. But would you--would anyone--really toss and turn over a wg crown or this apex issue, if you can even call it an issue...? It is like bedding Raquel Welch in 1971... and losing desire because she has a few split ends in her hair! (I have a 1970's mad love for RW.) Anyway, it's not yours or anyone's opinions or perceptions or peeves that are unfortunate... just the idea that a watch can be SO extraordinary, SO-SO-SO extraordinary, by anyone's measure... and still, a few will dwell on marginal observations... I guess it points toward human nature itself, which seems truly insatiable. I am a nut, as we all seem to be here. But when I was reading your post, I felt a little sad for humanity! Imagine God reading this stuff!
To me, the enterprise of creating a Simplicity or any Dufour watch... or any watch of this ilk... is so un-cynical... so true an endeavor from the heart and soul... that it transcends Quibble.
Sometimes I can't help but comment cynically about certain brands, such as that 'Family Owned' one... which, to me, oozes cynicism... so it elicits cynicism.
But I feel so refreshed by the independents, I feel so inspired by them... and to me inspiration is SO-SO rare these days... in our disposable world... that I can't even bring myself to COMMENT on such minor things within such a stupendous, magnificent whole.
Again, we are here to comment on these things... but... I'm only expressing, I guess, how such comments seem to fuel a feeling of futility--how excellent does excellent have to be? How much more excellent can it be?
It's not to say that everything can't be improved upon, but more to say, gee whiz... really? Are we so stuck on a split end, as it were? When such lavish beauty is ours?
End of rant.
