Optical Illusion
There's an interesting optical illusion on the Grossmann Tefnut movement. The base plate on the left might look flat at first glance, but there's actually a step which a part of can be seen more clearly by the escape wheel. The trick that gives the illusion of flatness is that as the step continues down, it perfectly traces the outline of balance wheel underneath it, making it nearly invisible.
