I just bought the 1921 five weeks ago

and would thoroughly recommend it.  This is a manual winding watch while the LF is an automatic, arguably the best finsihed automatic in the market. Saying that Kari Voutilainen did remark how beautifully finished was the movement of the 1921.  But I bought the 1921 because the dial is second to none. It is my first ever and probably my last ever Vacheron as I am really a supporter of Patek and the independent brands.  smile

Opinions on Laurent Ferrier and..vs Vacheron⁉️

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-00:19
I always admired the Laurent Ferrier watches but never had the chance to try one. Now I could finally try the Classic Micro Rotor Ice Blue This is certainly very classy and verstatile. I also came across the possiblity to get the Montre Ecole Regulator: P...

I love Vacheron, but my choice would be the LF Galet.

Enjoy the weekend! ...

wow super nice ! never seen this dial

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-10:51
I think is called classic now right ?

I believe so.

It was called the Galet micro rotor when I acquired it. Great timepieces!

Thank you! I tried it extensively in 2016-2017 and was also around to buy it

then my brother got the RG. Is such an iconic model and I am glad it is now available in White Gold. Unlike anything else and better than Patek 😁

I have to agree

 By: sham1 : July 2nd, 2022-11:05
Not too keen on the rose gold model to be honest. The white gold model contrasts better against the black numerals and hands.

thank you Nicolas, classic origin is very nice indeed

and at a more doable price. Perhaps the Ecole (beside the annual calendar) was discontinued as it was not so popular.

Vc 1921 for me ..

thank you!

I will go for the 1921

The short answer: the 1921.

 By: mrds : July 2nd, 2022-10:06
The long answer is, well, a bit longer. First, VC and LF are among my favorite brands and all the watches you mention are fantastic pieces in their own right. As for the 1921, this is an iconic VC that is very well designed and made. It is extremely weara...

great longer reply! I did try the 1921 in RG and even the New York YG LE back in 2016

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-10:55
and was almost leaving with it then I went with something else. It turned out ok as I like the WG even more! Great to have your feedback on the case (with Montre Ecole being not as appealing as the others). I have never seen the Montre Ecole in person so ...

I own a LF galet micro rotor (not in ice blue, though) and I‘ve tried the American 1921 in several different versions.

 By: nafetS : July 2nd, 2022-11:10
I‘d definitely take the LF over the American 1921 in white gold. Yes, the VC is a lot cheaper, but the white gold version is imho also by far the most boring version. Also the LF‘s movement is a lot nicer, than the VC one. If I‘d buy an American 1921, I‘d...

Thanks for sharing your views !

I like the dial/strap combination of the WG. I don't think the model itself can be boring because of the dial orientation 😁 I never had the chance to try the squared LF but, price-wise, seems to be much more expensive. Somehow that case reminds me a lot o...

I feel that the only similarity between the two is that they’re mechanically wound.

 By: aperna : July 2nd, 2022-11:28
Other than that they’re both very different in how they wear and feel. The dial on the 1921 is sooooo beautiful Enter text ...

thank you for the amazing pics !! from your pics the LF seems

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-11:31
to wear smaller (I didn't try the origin case but the classic). At the moment the only LF I could find in stock is the Ecole. With the VC I got lucky and found one so I ordered it because..I love that is unlike anything I have and perhaps the rotation of ...

One of the things that always concerns me

 By: aperna : July 2nd, 2022-11:38
Is “the longevity“ of the manufacturer. I sometimes worry about how successful some independence will be going forward. Granted they do spectacular work. However, at my age this is becoming less of an issue. All the best for the weekend my friend, you hav...

Indeed..I think the longivity could an issue...

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-12:07
the prices are also stratospherically high so the question if there is really such a big demand for simple, very expensive pieces. Yes there are now a lot of waitlists but how about the future ? Not that I am really worried. LF distribution is limited and...

VC is more established, but the LF seems to be the better watch --

 By: Jim14 : July 2nd, 2022-15:54
VC has printed numerals which is a drawback in the comparo. Also, the VC design is a little out there and calls attention to itself. The LF has a sublime movement and gorgeous hands and markers. It seems like more watch to me. As far as the school watch, ...

than you Jim good to now that the regulator is not as popular

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-18:05
so the lower price might be because of that ? I loved the LF Origin Ice Blue dial in my pic but it is not available for purchase (just to try) and almost x2 price of the VC (and the VC is in gold) leaves me a bit perplex.

Two different worlds.

 By: Geo : July 2nd, 2022-18:32
I have a Montre Ecole and a Galet Micro-Rotor with an autumn dial, so not the Ice Blue. These watches I can wear all day, without even noticing that I have them on my wrist, and I can't say that of the VC1921. The VC is an absolute a stunning and historic...

I must say that it looks great on your wrist

 By: Geo : July 3rd, 2022-06:28
and not too large, what I expected. I will look up a pic of the Montre Ecole. GEO

Wow your Ecole is super charming 👏

 By: christianch : July 3rd, 2022-09:14
probably this model was more loved than the Regulateur I think! but i I recall correctly a few years ago also the Regulateur from AP was a sleeper. Thanks for sharing the photo!

thank you 👏

 By: christianch : July 3rd, 2022-09:17
indeed is not too big! of course all square watches wear a bit bigger but 40mm is doable!

The New York boutique version

 By: Cozmopak : July 2nd, 2022-21:58
Of the 1921 is my preference for this model. Very beautiful. Hard to find. ...

I had the pleasure to try this in New York City 7 years ago

 By: christianch : July 2nd, 2022-23:06
tried also the RG back then I think we have some owners of the New York Edition in the forum. No regrets for me because I feel the WG is much nicer! can't wait to get it ...

Happy to Report I went for the 1921 WOW 💥

 By: christianch : July 4th, 2022-14:35
💥 Super comfortable watch, amazing strap unlike anything else I own ! THANKS to all for your kind advice Christian ...

Tough choice Christian as they are both great watches for different reasons for me. Either way, you cannot go wrong but that ice blue dial does look super nice 😉

 By: holdemchamp1225 : July 4th, 2022-15:52
The 1921 is a VC icon so tough to argue that choice as well, especially at the price point 🤷‍♂️

thank you! Justin👏 you are right that it was a tough choice with the ice blue but it became easy

 By: christianch : July 4th, 2022-16:52
because the ice blue was not available anyway 😁...I am very impatient when it comes to watches. The ice blue I tried was available only to try and this is the main AD for LF here in Switzerland. The only LF available was the Ecole regulateur but the VC is...
