Independents

interesting question

Hi Al,

I'm no moderator so i can only respond as one of the members and this is how you should read my post.

First of all Sarpaneva doesn't use stock ETA movements. He once started with Sarpaneva Uhren Fabrik (SUF) and in that time he used ETA movements indeed. But that's already history and these days he uses Soprod movements.
Sarpaneva does his own finishing on the Soprod movements. And even better, for the Korona series (yes, the serie with the extrordinairy beautiful dials) he modifies the date mechanism. The goal of his modifications is to keep the movement as flat as possible, so the date mechanism and disk are deeper in the movement main plate. I'm not that technical, so if i made a mistake in my description feel free to correct me smile

Personally i think a story like the one about Stepan Sarpaneva does belong in the main forum, because it's the story about the man behind the brand and all of his work. I would agree with you if it was a post about only one new watch, but this was not the case.
If there's story about the Felix Baumgarter and Martin Frei the post would also belong in the main forum. If the story was about a new watch made by Urwerk i think it belongs in the AHCI forum.

Cheers
Frank
