Look at the metal work and not the watch
1440,
The original "GoS" threads were placed (correctly by Jocke) in TimeOut, about knives and metal smithing skills.
The repost on this forum without mention of watch "brand" was just illustrative of the metal smith art, a component of skill sets needed to make watch dials, crowns etc. Until I posted the "brand name" because someone asked, we were all focused on the smithy's dial work.
Yes - you are reading too much into it.
Please relax and enjoy the content here.
Regards,
MTF

A question
By: 1440 : February 11th, 2009-08:09
I want to be clear I am not trying to start something, and will say I have read some of the posts on why certain bands are included on this forum and others are not. I just don't get a feeling that there is a lot of consistency on this subject, so I'm jus...
interesting question

Hi Al, I'm no moderator so i can only respond as one of the members and this is how you should read my post. First of all Sarpaneva doesn't use stock ETA movements. He once started with Sarpaneva Uhren Fabrik (SUF) and in that time he used ETA movements i...

But i have no clue what i misunderstood in your opinion... You make one point and that's why a relatively small watchmaker using stock ETA movements comes in the HoMe forum. My point is that i think the post refered to does belong in HoMe and to correct h...

I'm not sure why you conclude that I am beating around the bush. I have stated quite clearly the posting of brands here seems inconsistent to me and I'm trying to better understand how the determination is made. My impression was that to be considered for...
Hello Pat

Thanks for the response. Just a couple of quick points... I don't believe the placement of posts is random based on what I have seen here before and the debates I have seen surrounding who should be included in the AHCI forum. So I'm not sure that no one ...
Hi, Al . . .
By: Dr No : February 12th, 2009-10:10
. . . the question of what is appropriate to post on the AHCI forum is a nuanced one . . . there is no 'master list' of independent manufacturers that a moderator can check against to determine whether a post belongs here or on HOME. You might recall that...
Hi Art...

Thanks for chiming in - again I am just trying to get my head around what I see as discrepancies (for lack of a better word) where Don posted the very nice report on Sarapaneva on HOME, and has posted in Jocke's thread here that features the watches with ...
I can assure you
By: 1440 : February 12th, 2009-16:31
I am quite relaxed. I admit I'm puzzled about why discussing this seems to be taboo when it has been said before that part of determining where things go is dependant on member input, but I am relaxed all the same. Thank you for your concern though. Regar...

Folks, We have beaten this topic into submission many times before and in many variations. You can search the history and evolution of this forum that started as a "favour to" or "recognition of" AHCI members who were struggling to be recognised before th...
