I’m immediately reminded of De bethune’s heat-tempered titanium which they use to make amazing purple, blue, and yellow pieces.

MING X Shapiro 37.06 Lightning - I Call It "Guilloche Brûlée"
By: patrick_y : June 5th, 2026-02:13
I call it "Guilloche Brulee" because the dials are literally torched like a creme brulee! Kind of interesting that watch dials are now torched and "blued" like blued screws are! ...

But a lot of Ming stuff doesn’t really do it for me in person vs pics. He’s maybe…too good a photographer.

I like it, but I'm not sure that's an original guilloche pattern like the email suggests, I've seen Kari and a few other brands do similar ones like chronoswiss

8-10 years ago there was a “kid” in Philly making watches with various coloured titanium dials and maybe cases too, it was anodized titanium.

He is a pen maker by trade, I don’t think the watches ever got enough traction. But they were visually pretty cool.

Just found him, Ian Schon.

At the very early Wind Up Watch Fairs he used to exhibit, pens (which he sold mostly in Japan) and watches.

I really like that dial, but 38mm feels small to me.
