Hi Jim, ok I will try and give you an objective view...

Jun 28, 2020,15:37 PM

I have seen and tried on a couple of these AS watches. I think they are actually amazing and from what I have read and seen, the quality and R&D are very high.

Their Pure Resonance model is a marvel from a technical standpoint as well. Since you already signed up for a FPJ Resonance, will you be wearing this AS as often once you have the FPJ Resonance 2020 model? That is one thing to consider.

Now regarding value. Difficult to be objective here as the market dictates what a watch is worth on the secondary market. Here, AS watches suffer greatly which is sad as they make great watches. I don't know your collection as well as Brandon but I do know most of it and have seen your evolution as a collector within the past 18 months from having more mainstream brands to focusing more on Independents. Looking at your other pieces from Independents, I would have to say this AS watch would be the most niche and that is even considering the Czapek Antarctique you have on order. Since demand is very low for this AS Pure Resonance, the resale will most likely suffer quite a bit. I don't know what type of discount you are receiving but if it is not a substantial one, you will most likely lose a bit of value if you ever wish to sell or trade it. As for value proposition, that is a tricky one as it would depend on how you define it. Is your sense of value based on the quality of the watch compared to the price paid or strictly monetary perception (what you pay compared to what it is worth when resold or traded)?

Of course, this all goes out the window if you truly like the watch and decide it is a keeper. If so, price become a non factor.

I will say the watch is of amazing quality and the R&D that went into the watch is right at the top. Now it just comes down to how the watch makes you feel. Sometimes the feeling you have with a watch makes it intrinsically more valuable than what it is worth monetarily. That is something you will know once you have it on.

Let us know what you decide regardless šŸ˜‰šŸ‘

Hi again everyone and thanks to everyone for the help on my Armin Strom choices. I believe I have found the watch I want and wanted to post it for you comments. It is rose gold with a custom Kari white enamel solid rose gold dial. I will receive the Watch...

But be prepared to lose another 50% of what is already discounted, sorry but itā€™s the truth in this market and for me as a worker bee, I cannot justify love with the loss, should one day I need to trade it. Good for you if you can stomach it....itā€™s a gre...

Clueless :-)

Great input, the looks, the R&D and the resonance make me want it, I am lucky to have the chance to try it on...Jim

Being very familiar with your collection, you have many LESS exciting watches in your collection which cost you a lot MORE money. Most of the safe purchases you made you have moved away from, trading them for far more original and creative timepieces whic...

And you know me so well, thanks for helping me become the collector I want to be, and what a great quote, I wonder where you got that from ...Jim

It's a gorgeous watch, definitely a connoisseur's piece

 By: jleno : June 28th, 2020-13:03
I'm sure the value proposition is great compared to other brands, but resale might take a hit due to the low visibility of the brand. You're getting a unique complication that required significant R&D to develop, good finishing front and back, and an ...

Yes the chance to try it on seems like the consensus.

I really have researched a ton and everything I read and watch tells me this is a great watch, Iā€™ll let you all know what I do Tuesday...Jim

Most of my watches are indies and i know a lot will loose a huge amount when I decide to sell them but tbh i can live with that .

I know it can be a expensive hobby . I try to be selective when purchasing a watch because i know i will keep it for a long time and enjoy it to the max , thats the best way to justify all the money I spent. I would say if your not thinking of selling thi...

Hi Watchonthe wrist

If I like what I see I would not sell the watch anytime soon, thanks for the encouragement...Jim

It's honestly a great looking and unusual piece. And you seem to be perfectly clear on the more obvious pros and cons: you are likely going to love it, and you'll certainly lose money on it.

 By: FabR : June 28th, 2020-13:37
Given this, I really think that deciding which of the two should prevail in making this decision is entirely up to you... The only unknown that remains is how the watch will feel on your wrist on Tuesday: will something "click" strongly enough when you tr...

As always thank you Fab

Armin Strom, just be verrrry certain you LOVE this watch or any by AS.... otherwise yes, own what you love. But if this is a 'maybe' in your mind or a choice based on a moment's passion, I would advise, wait 2-4 weeks... Just let it simmer... be SURE you ...

And right on the money, I think my awareness of everything said on this post is in the back of my mind but it certainly helps to have a dose of reality. Honest crudeness is a good communication too and it appreciate your input. I have gotten a better idea...

A nice way to say

It would be a red flag for me

if the dealer was offering a big discount on these new pieces. Most of the (widely considered) top independents like, Kari V, Gronefeld, V Halter, Lang & Heyne, G Forsey, Rexhepi, etc don't seem to offer much, if any, discounts on their new pieces. Th...

Absolutely correct

Absolutely correct! A large discount does raise a red flag and that has to be considered regardless of what some think on this site. Unless youā€™re filthy rich value must be discussed in someway to make objective decisions. On this watch, by Tuesday I will...

Thank you Justin, very good observations. Getting the FPJ certainly has an effect on what I may do. This AS is a very different watch. Really me loving it is worth more than its ultimate value later on and although the next comment is about not talking ab...

It is definitely a watch with a strong personality

and taste is a very personal thing so I will not comment on the beauty of the watch. It obviously appeals a lot to you and that is the most important thing. As for the notoriety of the brand it is obviously a very niche brand so the market for such a bran...

Thank you Mike, I think youā€™re telling me ā€œenough saidā€œ . I know it is taboo to talk about pricing and values too much on this website and I do try my best to walk that line carefully. I do have a lot of input and I am satisfied I will make a great decisi...
