Independents

Dear Friends, could you please help me appreciate the British style of movement finishing?

With something like a Dufour, there is anglage to a crazy degree, black polishing, etc. It seems easy for me, a beginner, to appreciate. A high-end watch like a Charles Frodsham (pictured) or RWSmith, has a different style, with relatively little anglage, frosted finish on the plates and black polish on the screw heads. I would like to appreciate this style more. Could you, kind reader, help explain if

high end watches of this style may be thought of as an equal to a Dufour or Voutilainen and if so, how? Many thanks and looking forward to learning!
