De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius ⭐ Reunited Review
Hello everyone,
It’s been nearly two years since I brought home a rose-gold De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius—my original post is still available here
Just shy of its first anniversary, however, I parted with it to finance another purchase, following the familiar “one in, one out” approach. The replacement had plenty of wrist time and still gives me great pleasure, yet nothing else provided the DB25’s unique blend of subtlety, whimsy, and rarity.
Fast-forward a year and, thankfully, the stars have aligned once more. I couldn’t track down my original watch, but I managed to secure a fresh allocation, and the new Starry Varius arrived this week. I’m delighted to see it back in my collection—so here are a few quick photos to celebrate its return.
What have I learnt? “Less is more” is a sound principle for keeping a collection sensible—but sometimes, “more really is more!”

That really is a stunning looking De Bethune watch.

If I am not mistaken the only De Bethune watch in rose gold (beside the DB 25 with diamonds). The polish is just amazing and is very shiny! the dial of course is a masterpiece on its own right

It looks stunning and have always been a fan of how the dial curves to the center to add real dimension to this watch. Rose gold is so beautiful and those lugs let it float on your wrist. I know many compliment the FPJ CB Bleu dial (and while stunning) - ...

it has a lot of presence but is also fairly thin so looks really elegant.

At least now you've gotten comfortable with the more is more philosphy so the DB25 can be fully enjoyed for a long time to come.

I am really not good in giving advice on what to do with a collection, I did let many watches go and most of them I don't miss so that is good. Sometimes is good to let go and consolidate!

Regarding the brand I can only say that I had always a great experience with the 1916 company that helped me in sourcing a brand new one from De Bethune.

I love rose gold, but just didn't get the chance to
