BaselWorld 2011: Urwerk
This year Urwerk has made a step forward IMHO.
OK, I know there are many who have always loved their aesthetic, but for me it was awe for the watchmaking prouess shown and yawn for the looks. They didn't talk to me.
This year, however I was surprised to find watches I would wear.
From the pictures I didn't know what to think of the new UR110. In the metal it is a space ship in stealth. Very neat.
The titanium case is also available in AlTiN black.
But this was the real surprise, A UR202S in stainless steel with a metal band.
Totally neat, I could have taken it home immediately!

the UR110 is totally cool.... Well, bound to happen at somepoint I suppose. Love it, in the brushed titanium case (?). Very original. Well done and yes, if I had the spare cash, would buy it. Would put my money on it. Congrats to Urwerk Andrew H
It's a watch I really like
in it's original SS version, the look of the gross "forged" material is part of the soul of the watch. Thus, I think I don't really like the black or the grey one. Thanks for the pics ! Mark
I like this watch a lot
I'm happy to say I like it too, because sometimes all I seem to like is the Classic. Although I'm a HUGE fan of Debethune as well... This watch is fascinating, ultra modern, weird, cool, fine... I'd love to own it....
I love what's happening inside the dial
for the UR101 but I really dislike the case shape and especially the 'empty' wide bezel. I find it disturbingly un-proportionate to my eyes. I so wanted to love this model as I really LOVE the dial.....sigh. *CL

The simple luxury of precision....
There is no rattle, no binding, the closure is just right. Maspoli makes about 200 bracelets a year. Each link is hand fitted. The simplicity comes from Frei's design, it is a strap in metal. Don

Beautiful pieces as always from Urwerk. Good to see Felix exploring the use of metal bands and stainless steel. I wonder if this is an intention to become more mainstream. Looking forward to seeing these pieces in person. Thanks for the coverage Don!

I believe Opus V is the first one....
But maybe there's other watch out there before Urwerk and Opus V. *CL
