Initial Photos of the Gronefeld One Hertz in TI with Blue Dial

 By: Gary G : July 11th, 2013-20:27
Greetings to all! Timely that Don has just posted his excellent review of the Grnefelds' watches from Basel this year, as I have just returned from a very brief trip to the Netherlands to visit the "Boys" and now have something new to show. I'm pleased t...

That Movement Shot

 By: flamenco : July 11th, 2013-20:32
is spectacular ! Am sold on the 85 PC-E ! The dry cabinet is getting real cramp ! Btw, is that moire on the dial in the first pic ? Thanks again for the superb photos ! A career change perhaps ? LOL !!

Thanks -- as for the first shot...

 By: Gary G : July 11th, 2013-20:42
...in full size on my computer, there is no moire in the original image -- but when I downsized the image to 1500x1000 for uploading, the grooves in the dial must have been just the right size relative to the pixel grid (along with the lighting from the s...

Here's a link to the original of the movement shot

 By: Gary G : July 11th, 2013-20:48
You can click through to see the original, which at least on my computer is a lot closer to what I see in the original -- and a lot better than the crushed version that you can see on the upload to the PuristS server: <a href="" title="1H rear 3 v2 by ...

Stunning, Gary !

 By: flamenco : July 11th, 2013-23:41
Am running out of superlatives ! Its quite ironic, but sometimes I fear the resolving power of these new sensors. Leaves nothing to the imagination ! And Good thing u cleaned the watch real well !

Forgot to mention

 By: flamenco : July 12th, 2013-02:08
Your photos not longer look distorted. Spot on aspect ratio !

Well...

 By: Gary G : July 12th, 2013-05:37
I uploaded the first two to the PuristS. server. If you compare to the second version of the movement shot that is a link to Flickr, you will see that the latter is still elongated (at least on my phone). Will keep you advised. Thanks, Gary

Gary, your collection is the very fabric that weaves long wet dreams... Thank you for sharing!

You obviously don't know me that well, Tom! :-)

 By: Gary G : July 12th, 2013-13:27
Many thanks, nonetheless! I'm no idol, but I am very fortunate to have the great pieces I do -- and to have met so many cool folks, including the Grönefelds, in the process of building up my collection. All the best, Gary

Quick thoughts

 By: Gary G : July 14th, 2013-13:16
Thanks for asking for my opinion, MrTime! I will wait until my "wearing impressions" post (maybe in a week or two) to set out my views on this watch in greater detail, but I can tell you already that it certainly fulfills its intent just as well as any in...

Thanks Gary

 By: MrTime : July 14th, 2013-23:09
For the kind sharing of opinion Frankly...I'm in discussion, and seriously considering making the move as well. Any thought on the Red Gold Dune....as I find that combination v attractive too. And is the watch size look bigger then actual, as its actually...

A few more thoughts

 By: Gary G : July 15th, 2013-00:38
If you are strongly drawn to the watch, I do not think that you will be at all disappointed with it -- in my opinion it very much stands up to (or even exceeds) the expectations that I had for it. I've seen the Dune, and I think that it looks great. On so...

My apologies

 By: MrTime : July 15th, 2013-06:45

This one will provide lots of challenges to "catch" the essence photographically. Looking forward to trying! Best, Gary

Thank you, Alex!

Looking forward to getting this one under the light tent at home to see what I can really do... Best, Gary

the movement shot looks like a scene from the Matrix

 By: Hororgasm : July 12th, 2013-01:43
and I think I need to visit Netherlands soon, purportedly for business. congrats on watch again mate Best, Horo

I am sure that the Grönefelds would welcome you!

 By: Gary G : July 12th, 2013-13:29
They mentioned several times that they don't see many visitors, and would like more independent-loving collectors to come by. This means you! Best, Gary

Like both sides....

 By: Darren : July 12th, 2013-14:10
but the movement is truly spectacular. The the watchmaker and the photographer are to be commended. Darren

That movement is really distinctive

...and may not be 100 percent to every person's taste, but to me the design choices (bridge number and shape, use of steel as a bridge material, etc.) were both daring and successful. Glad you enjoyed! Best, Gary

As ever, Gary...

 By: pplater : July 12th, 2013-16:17
...you seem to have nailed the essence of the watch in the combination you have specified. Your photos....well: you know. :-) Cheers, pplater.

Ah, essence

 By: Gary G : July 14th, 2013-13:24
A critical concept! Thanks for bringing it up -- the search for authenticity/integrity is a big part of how I think about this hobby (as you know), and as someone whose collection drips with the stuff you are in a perfect position to comment on it! All th...

Very Nice Gary!

Photos are pretty darn awesome even if you were without the proper equipment.

Superb photos Gary..................

Congratulations, on the new piece, I look forward to reading your road report. I love the one of the movement. Regards Tony

Looks as if the movement side

 By: Gary G : July 14th, 2013-13:28
...is pretty popular with the forum members here! I'll continue to capture different views of the movement over time -- will be a lot of fun for me, I am sure! Best, Gary

Thanks! (nt)

Among other things I had forgotten to bring a black drop cloth and had to make do :-) No time this weekend for more formal photos, but will get to it sometime in the next few weeks, for sure. Best, GAry

Gary, this watch is just lovely,

 By: tahoeblue : July 13th, 2013-08:08
especially with this enchanting blue dial. And I have to say your movement shot is spectacular, really shows the texture of this finish and the depth of this movement. Home run watch and pics!

Many thanks!

Just getting started with the photography on this one -- looks as if it will be an excellent subject for further investigation if the initial response is any indication. Many thanks for the kind remarks! Best, Gary

Congrats Gary

A really great combo and the blue dial is my favourite from all the dials of the normal edition, it looks amazing. Fantastic photos too! Congrats and welcome to the owners club! Cheers Andrew

Is there a secret handshake?

 By: Gary G : July 14th, 2013-13:31
That is, one that does not involve a glass of beer? I already learned that one :-) Glad to be in the club! I did consider the Techniek but at the end of the day (as Tim noted) I am perhaps a bit more attuned to classic looks so went with the solid dial --...

Well there are several...

 By: andrewluff : July 14th, 2013-14:41
But they all revolve around alcoholic drinks... From the solid dials, the blue is in my opinion the one to have and I agree that in your collection this one fits better but there is always room for both as they look like different watches :-) Cheers Andre...

Uh-oh...

 By: Gary G : July 14th, 2013-20:56
...does that mean that I have to keep the Techniek on my list? :-) Best, Gary

Two years later, and the entirely favorable impression . . .

 By: Dr No : July 13th, 2013-13:30
. . . made at first glance has only deepened. The One Herz is one of very few watches that strike me as a wholly successful design, both overall and in detail. Terrific images, Gary, as usual. Please bring this one along on the next trip South . . .

I will be sure to bring it, Art!

 By: Gary G : July 14th, 2013-13:34
You have touched on a key point that I've elaborated on a bit in some of my other responses here -- coherence. This is, to me, one of those rare pieces in which the parts all contribute to a coherent whole -- and I like the overall concept as well! Best, ...
