Laurent Ferrier Galet Square Quick Review!

Many thanks to all the advice and help in picking a Laurent Ferrier watch. I have decided to go for the Laurent Ferrier Galet Square (or how is it called now, simple square).
If you are used to buy watches from famous manufactures the world of independents is not quiet obvious. The distribution is very limited so it is, at times, impossible to even try it in the metal.

Luckily Laurent Ferrier is developing the distribution network so I had the chance to try first which is pretty much essential at this price point.

The Classic Origin models are gorgeous but ultimately I decided to go for the square.

This version has a black opaline dial which is gorgeous but also difficult to photograph due to the relfections 🧐 but here is my first mini review, including some ❄️!!

One of the main attractions was the famous micro-rotor LBF 229.01  (LBF stands for  Christian Ferrier, Enrico Barbasini, and Michel Navas that designed the movement. Brabasini and Navas are now at La Fabrique du Temp
of Louis Vuittion). The finish of the movement makes the difference and probably the price. The Classic Origin uses the  LF116.01 manual wind movement with a simplier finish and a lower price point.

I prefer the automatic movements and I also felt that the classic origin, even if is 40mm vs just 41mm of the square (1mm seems al ittle difference) to wear very small.

It is challeging to capture the black opaline dial, probably the anti reflexion on the sapphire glass is not sufficiently strong or may be there isn't any

The light brown suede strap is very nice and provides with a good contrast of the dark dial.

Clasp is simple but comfortable

the stainsless steel case makes the watch very light and a pleasure on the wrist. Apoligizes again for the tilted pose and the building reflection. A different angle would reflect the iphone camera, not nice 😄

This is obviously a very quick review as I just received the watch yesterday evening. This said, I can already say that I am impressed by the quality and can understand why it is completely different than any other watch I own. Even Patek, AP and Lange finish seems much less artisanal. The Assagai-shaped hand are very elegant. Stunning piece.

How do you like it ?
