I bought a Lange over one year ago from Wempe. At that time I was given a nice second OEM replacement strap for my watch. I realized a few days ago that they gave me the wrong size (my watch is 20 mm lug to lug and they gave me a 19 mm strap). I notified them and they apologized for the mix up and sent me a replacement strap immediately.
If I did business with a grey market dealer, such as jomashop, instead of an AD and I contacted them a year later when I realized they screwed some thing up, I’m sure that they would do nothing about it. They would tell me that it was my fault for not notifying them at the time of the mix up a year ago and would argue that I could be deceiving them.
I'd rather deal with an AD, and all the pros and cons that come with that, then ever do business with a grey dealer. Being treated like a decent human being goes a long way.
