Why do watch manufacturers do this??

Nov 01, 2021,19:19 PM

Why do the watch manufacturers put superfluous printing on the dial

such as "automatic" certified chronometer" "100 meter",
etc.?  The owners know that is one or all of the above, and most
people who see the watch get such a quick glance they can't read it
anyway,  To most of it it just clutters the dial.

Maybe not all owners are as familiar to watches like the community here.

If we buy a watch and gift to our family, such printings will help the “owners”.

what, you don't like 6 lines of text on your dials? (7 if you include 'Swiss Made')

Perhaps for the marketing teams it is important what for some collectors is a nuisance. It is a bit like people’s signatures. They convey an impression about the individual, but only the creator of the signature knows why each trace is how it is. Also the...

Couldn’t agree more-like reading a short story on the dial

 By: Rock1 : November 2nd, 2021-02:53
Moser should do an April Fool’s edition where the whole dial is filled with a description of the watch. “This was made in Schaffhausen by George S. who attended the Swatch school in Bienne. Rated to 300m +/- 6 secs/day... etc”
