Why and Why?

 

Why is it called a California dial? Because in the 80's a redial company based in California was refinishing Rolexes with this type of dial. Hence these were since deemed "California" dials. 


Why was this dial configuration created in the first place? Don't know. They date all the way back to the 30's but no clue as to why they were created in the first place. Perhaps just to be different smile
