watches you hated in pictures..

...but loved in real life. Lets get a thread going....

Have you ever seen a watch in a press release that left you cold but when it arrived in the local dealer left you speachless? This happened some time ago when my dealer got in an old model IWC DaVinci perpetual calendar. During a period of business travel I missed the watch being in the display window (normally I spend saturday morning drooling on the window) but during a recent visit the dealer pulled it out from under the counter.

I never thought this watch worked- the lugs, the height versus the diameter, the dial lay out- all wrong. But in real life on my wrist and in my hand everything worked- everything fitted together and my love of IWC increased!!! Now I am heart broken between the new vintage range and hunting a NOS DaVinci!!!
