Horological Meandering

This one is really under the Radar :)

I am really surprised by the latest incoming  - a Rado.  Yes, Rado smile.  Seriously not a brand that I take notice until this - The Hyperchrome Captain Cook.

Did some research after the launch in Basel 17, it is faithful to the original first released in the 60's, nothing more, nothing less (other than the size which is 2mm larger than the original).  This should be the approach to doing a re-issue, the exact reason why I also got the Omega SM300 earlier this year.  And I wish Blancpain did the same to the FF Mil-spec tribute........

Mine is the ltd edition at 37 mm which looks and feels "vintage".  Overall execution is more than competent at the price point.  Deep dish ceramic bezel, dome sapphire, sunburst dial, faux patina markers that Rado did not try too hard to make them look fake.

The movement is a redesigned ETA 2824 with an amazing 80 hours power reserve.  100 m water resistant is adequate as a fun watch.

The only complaint is the smallish crown which is hard to wind with the bezel wider than the case partially blocking the crown.

One last thing, I realise the anchor logo at 12 o'clock rotates, LOL.

Some pics of this interesting offering from Rado.

Have a great weekend!
