Horological Meandering

. . . started with the First Annual Purists Pub Crawl in the early afternoon, with Mike T, Scott D . . . . . . and myself kicking off the proceedings at The Black Rose for lunch . . . . . . and the first of several rounds of fine ales and beers....

. . . met Scott and myself at the train station a short distance from The Black Rose after taking the bus down from Maine; he was going to drive, but decided to take the bus after I mentioned my plan to hit as many Irish bars as possible ;-). Good thinkin...  

. . . and across the street there's another one! My kinda town . . . . . . alas, so many bars and only one afternoon to take them in....  

. . . so we took a cab across town to a vintage establishment where I laid eyes for the first time on my favorite JLC in the metal . . . . . . the sublime skeleton Reverso that is just perfect for my wrist. Steve G's photos do it better justice than my ef...  

don't they serve micro-brews in the watch stores in Boston? For some reason, and somehow, the stores in my area always seem to have a few cool brewskies available when I suggest I'd better pop out for a cold drink and consideration. I believe I recognize ...

While mike focused on people and food, I concentrated on watches at dinner. As a caveat, these were taken with a ringlight I just got, and in a very dark bar, so some have some horrible glare, and some a weird flattening of movements. On the other hand, f...

it amazes me how easily it appears to have a GTG in US and Asia, but in UK we've managed 1. a brilliantly organised one, but still only 1. i think it has a lot to do with ease of travel as getting anywhere in UK is a nightmare. lovely selection of watches...

MTF, i'm english remember, i've seen every blackadder episode about 30 times and blackadder II with 'bob' ( a very sexy actress whose name escapes me) was the best incarnation i think. 'goes forth' was a bit too melancholy for my liking. G

I have such a vague recollection of stumbling out of that place one St. Patrick's Day evening, 20 years or so a go. It's a true classic.

I had a GREAT time meeting you all! I was really astounded to meet such a large group of down to earth passionate watch fans here in Beantown. Count me in, if you folks put together another Boston GTG. BTW, the Pub crawl looks great. Heck, if I'd known ab...
