The myth of utilitarianism
Strictly speaking the Sinn U1 is a dive watch - it is waterproof to 1000m.
But those who believe it is a genuine diver's tool made for professionals whose lifes depended on the U1 are kidding themselves. Sure, the U Black would probably not work well as a professional diver's watch but that's not the point. The vast majority of dive professionals don't wear the U1 anyway, and will probably never come across one, let alone any of the other high-priced "diver's" watches we discuss here.

You beat me to that comment, TM. I generally appreciate Sinns, but the U1.....no. There are nicer divers out there. The all-black one just makes me laugh. In some ways it's cool in it's foolishness as a "dive" watch.

...yet accurate way see if your watch passes ISO 6425 is see whether it is marked "DIVER'S"... Yes, it sounds dumb, but it's part of the standard! I have no doubts about the performance of Sinns and do not intend these comments to be an attack on the time...
