I was lucky enough to have a great time with one of our Purist Friends, Bill, to not name him, here, in Paris. Bill showed me a watch I wanted to see in the flesh for a long time, now...The Sinn U 1. Mysterious: Powerful: Harmonious, well balanced: A stun...

Really a very tempting Sin to fall in... Better, IMO, than the more recent one, with its lack of legibility, which is not very à propos for a tool watch... Thanks for sharing, SJX! Nicolas

This Sinn would want to make you Sinn. I think i'd prefer the one with the black Bezel (U1 SDR). Photo from the official website: This black bezel gives the watch even more agressivness ...... Your real-live pictures do the watch more justice and i think ...  

Yes, you're right, the black bezel is adding some strengh to the U 1... But the one I have for a few weeks is on to make me fall in love... Dangerous simple, strong, and appealing watch, my friend. For once, I think my Banker will say YES! Best. Nicolas

THe Rolex GMT with the Ceramic Bezel... Yes, I would like to get a Nato strap for it, as the only thing that disturbs me on this great watch is the bracelet, too undersized compared to the case... But I'm sure that you, my Banker and me will find a great ... 

I know I am typically known for being polite about watches (many would say too polite, and thus assume I am a lap dog for the industry, when I am only following some old advice about manners - if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at... 

You beat me to that comment, TM. I generally appreciate Sinns, but the U1.....no. There are nicer divers out there. The all-black one just makes me laugh. In some ways it's cool in it's foolishness as a "dive" watch.

Strictly speaking the Sinn U1 is a dive watch - it is waterproof to 1000m. But those who believe it is a genuine diver's tool made for professionals whose lifes depended on the U1 are kidding themselves. Sure, the U Black would probably not work well as a... 

And much as I get frustrated sometimes with over-rated (as in depth) watches and dive jewellery sometimes, that's why I think the all-black U1 is actually strangely attractive. Though, just because it is 1000m depth rated, does not make it a dive watch. T... 

I recall Sinn makes a big deal out of the testing done on the U1, Germanische Lloyd tests both the depth rating and the submarine steel alloy used (for corrosion resistance, hardness etc), and I remember it was tested to both DIN and ISO standards but per... 

...yet accurate way see if your watch passes ISO 6425 is see whether it is marked "DIVER'S"... Yes, it sounds dumb, but it's part of the standard! I have no doubts about the performance of Sinns and do not intend these comments to be an attack on the time...
