Horological Meandering

Thanks. I prefer to think of it as independent decisionmaking

Every so often over the last 30 years I’ve taken decisions that set coordinates for the next chunk of life. I try to use such moments to dig deep and ask what I really want and need, and not let the habits formed up to that point dictate options.

The results have sometimes been clean breaks and sometimes incremental, but always thought through. That way I can feel responsible for - and own - the consequences.

In the present case it’s somewhere in between: 12 quietly satisfying watches rather than 35. I still have all the knowledge and experience of the watches that are going and gone. That can never be lost, and and puts the act of possession into a proper perspective.
