Hey, Allen -- thanks for asking! I should probably post a real review on AHCI (and may still do so), but it's been great. As you know, it wears big for 38mm, and it is perfectly sized to my wrist -- the lugs are ideal in terms of flowing around the wrist. Finishing still takes my breath away, and the anthracite numerals are sort of a Rohrschach test -- they can appear to be any of a variety of colors depending on the surroundings and light.
I'm now getting used to how the face looks -- when I first opened the box, I was almost startled by how delicate the numerals, hands, etc. were! I put this down to macro photography -- when you're used to seeing something at about 20x life size, the real thing does tend to look daintier by comparison.
The minor blemishes that you and I saw in the pre-completion photos were remedied before Kari finished up with the watch, so I'm happy with that. And despite the huge hoo-ha on the forum, the seconds hand is straight.
Still very happy with all of my design choices. As for timekeeping, I kept it wound for the first 31 days (wound it morning and night, as Kari recommends) -- and for the month it gained a total of 9 seconds, or the equivalent of less than 2 minutes per year! I finally received the Besancon chronometer certificate about a week ago (you'd think they're overwhelmed with thousands of watches by how long it takes them) and it shows bigger deviations than that (as you'd expect) but still well within the specs (one-third to one-tenth of the permitted deviations on all of the metrics).
I'm wearing it a little less often now (particularly with all of the rain that we've been having, I don't want to get it wet) but it's still in regular rotation. Even with the quick release straps, I haven't tried a strap change -- I like the dark brown with the RG, and I'm still scared of scratching the lugs. I'd also have to switch the deployant to the new strap. Maybe in another couple of months!
Gotta get back to work -- we have to get together and compare notes in more detail. My wife and I will be visiting with Kari in May -- certainly looking forward to that.
All the best,
Gary
