Horological Meandering

Soon to be released Citizen high-end mechanical

For its 80th anniversary, Citizen will unveiled its first high-end mechanical timepiece on May 28. Part of The Citizen range, which currently consists of only high-end, ultra-accurate quartz watches, this new mechanical model is conservative in design but appears to be an very high quality product. It comes with a 10 year warranty.

CTY57-1272

The movement is an entirely new in-house calibre, even the hairspring is in-house, backed up by the experience of having produced 100 million mechanical movements to date.

Some highlights:

- Steel case and bracelet with Duratect scratch-resistant treatment and polished with Zaratsu technique

- 37 mm diameter and 11.3 mm height

- White or black dial

- Cal. 0910 movement with 42 hour power reserve and daily rate of -5 to +10 seconds

- 10 year warranty with two free inspections during the period

- Retail of JPY294,000

Availability appears to be Japan only. Nonetheless I very much looking forward to seeing this in the metal.
