Started with touring bicycles....yup....complete with panniers and billy-can.
Got into the early mountain bike downhill craze but refused to die like most of the crazies......can you believe we had NO active suspension in those days and still had caliper brakes? I had the first carbon-fibre framed bike that GIANT made for Joe Public. Of course, the professionals had them for years before...see that 'carbon-dates' me!
Moving to Leicester, UK (flat as a pancake) helped the decision to retire from ....er.....mountain bikes! 
Old age sealed that decision,
