Dear Jos,
ALL CAPS is shouting by general internet convention.
For me, it is reiterating a point that is obviously bouncing off closed ears in our case (mixing metaphors.)
I find it as offensive to pretend to disingenuously effete euphemisms (sh!t instead of shit) as you find "intelligence offending" price levels, though I have admittedly resorted to them myself (I was considering using "I don't give a ratsa$$" but then, in for a penny, in for a pound) So, if I feel I don't give a shit, I'll say I don't give a shit. If I wasn't dealing with someone who clearly is not listening, I might have written, "I don't care" and felt the point was made.
If I didn't care, I wouldn't have bothered to reply to your first post in the earlier thread.
But you seem to keep missing the REASON (no, again, not a shout, but rather another reminder that you seem to insist on imposing your interpretation on my "opinions") I keep replying to you. (sigh)
You seem to be bothered by "intelligence insulting way with endless series of 'limited' colour variations commemorating all and sundry I would not even have started on this." while dismissing those who seem to enjoy and appreciate, voting with their dollars, all those "endless series of...commemorating all and sundry..." So, clearly implicit in your points, it is not okay to insult your intelligence and smart sense of values by offering things which you don't value, but it is okay for you to insult those who do value those offerings. Very interesting...(my point stands regardless of whether I myself get or appreciate each and every one of those "endless series of ...commemorating all and sundry...")
So back to the last "dubious" (your words) conclusion in one of my earlier posts -
You clearly feel your understanding of value and high horology is superior to those who don't agree with you and dare to appreciate and value features and colors and "special details" that maybe mean nothing to you.
I don't feel this superiority and so if I don't feel a piece or model line or brand is of interest to me, I don't feel the irresistable urge to impose my difference of opinion on others.
Others who may not feel the same positive or warm feelings towards something but who can seem to express that disagreement and not raise my "my opinion is superior to yours" red flags?
Regardless, again, I was and am merely asking you to phrase your opinion as such, rather than quasi-pseudo fact.
I think this point has been beaten to death and all I can say at this point is, I'll not be replying further to any posts on this subject from you, but will delete on sight any posts from you which present opinion as fact, without qualification that it is personal and subjective opinion.
"it was you who rekindled this discussion not me."
And by the way, you flatter yourself - this thread was not about your posts or comments, per se. Such issues raised were extant long before you made any posts in this lifetime, and will continue to be around long after you decide to stop participating, and my posting the thread was in reference to the general issue. The specific points of our earlier exchange were long ago exhausted of any interest for me since I tire rather quickly these days of discussions in which one party holds to their own position as dogma while dismissing the fundamental sincerity of others who might disagree.
This is about as egocentric as those who have to make a grand exit by DECLARING (is that shouting? hmmmm... ) their exit.
(to those that feel the need to make a grand exit) Just leave already; I'm sure you will find a welcoming new home, somewhere, and good for you! and this site will continue just fine without you as well, good for us!
Cheers,
TM
