Please take it in the most positive way, TM!

I have been following you for many years at the PurstS before they became PuristSPro, or me becoming a registered guest , and ascribe to your ideals and values unto this very day. In fact, thanks to PuristS I became seriously interested in watches, not in watch collecting but in - watches, for themselves and all their aspects.

The economic realities of such ventures are lost upon less finely-attuned, rude, blunt ears - but not yours! And your experiences with managers and official spokesmen would drive me to the same conclusion as a Philippe Dufour, "I would rather sweep the streets than work for them again."

My word-games with "host" and "holy" and "ghost" refer to one's being a guest at an organized affair at which one is glad, and in my case, very proud and privileged to have the chance to not only BE there but to become an active participant.

My few and often enough inane (satirically but never sarcasticly intended) contributions should not be regarded as "burnt offerings" to some all-overseeing Ego. Quite the contrary! The "guests" in such a group, calling it for the moment "ours", should always show courtesy and respect or at least some recognition (!) to the whomever is throwing the party - remembering that I, as with the many others here who have found heir way here to the specialist from the generally watch-interested public did not receive an express invitation to join up. An invitation to join, from whom - a watch brand? - how could that possibly be - answers fall from the sky like stone and ash from a volcano. What was there when you started the PuristS - OK, TZ, but litte else, and they were biased as hell!

Invitations to any event I defintely but most respectfully decline.

Declining an invitation to an event staged by the roman Cesars Caligula and Nero could , and often did, prove fatal - just by being there - in fact one could become the major attraction of the evening - gloriously fatal! We read about Christians being tied up on staffs and used as torches to light the way to Nero's palace. Maybe so, maybe not, since the chroniclers of the time rewrote history to serve their latest emperor=employer.

Not referring explicitely to M. Journe but to some watchmakers, of whom I have heard but none that I personally know - including "the mad" Vianney", admittedly a friend - the disease is endemic - it is fine to be captain of one's own balloon; but if the balloon is one's own head - overheated, overinflated with hot air, then the landing can turn out to be expecedly rough and, shall we say - disappointing?

Again, thanks and appreciation for all that you have done here, Thomas, and may it long so continue!

My balloon has just collapsed smile

Best regards,
Amery

Rebuttal to comments made by TM in FPJ thread?

 By: 1440 : June 5th, 2010-05:57
I am writing this post because I feel I was unfairly characterized in a post made by Thomas M in the thread on the FPJ forum closing. To be clear I have attempted to resolve this with Thomas via PM, but his response was that he "called it as he saw it" an...

Al, while I can fully see why

why you feel the way you do, I would ask you and others not to pursue this further... why? 1. This whole thing will be forgotten soon enough by those not petty enough to fight for perceived cyber turf.. 2. Everyone here apart from the owners are guests an...

I prefer to be regarded simply as a participant within a community, albeit following commonly established rules - or is that stretching the point too far? But as a guest ... the host is holy. "When you need me the most, I'll be gone like a ghost." amerix ...

amerix, we are not holy.

I'm not sure how to take your post, as it can have many different meanings, and of course, the internet medium is very poor at carrying subtle undertones. But "giving the maximum benefit of the doubt" and appreciating your past partipation and support of ...

Every one of your points are dead on, on target. Thank you.

First the AP ROO and then this post.....

Aren't you the same?

. Although I suspect the thinning of the hair is the by- products of too much wisdom. When I was your age the only wisdom I had was not to double date . Again: pls don't ban or kick me. I am just a joker. cen@jkt

Al, your thin skin on his matter belies the inherent hypocrisy in your position. If you want to take the self-righteous position of being a wronged individual, okay, you've had your say (as Mr. Journe had his.) I will leave your post up, unedited, same as...

You seem to steam very fast. Please, mind your blood pressure....

I think you are a fun guy. It would sadden me if you go down by a sudden stroke about this relatively not so important affair. There are no lives at stake. Take a look at your ROO and smile!

It is so painful to watch this great site being killed by these types of discussions. I think management should consider: a) Deleting and not allowing any more commentary on the closure of the FPJ forum - thread is locked and it's over. This also applies ...

Nomer, without my "emotion" this site would not exist.

 By: ThomasM : June 5th, 2010-10:32
But that said, I agree with you and the management of this site have decided to enforce just what you have suggested. Sincerely, TM

Agreed. Locking this thread now. [nt]

I am not having any issues with my original post being called out for the things you go in very minute detail about here. That is the right of any PPRO moderator or manager. I accept full responsibility for what I have posted. My issue is with you bringin...
