Nowadays when I buy a watch, the four main criteria are the dial, customer service, reiliability and accuracy in that order. The quality of the movement and the brand pale into insignificance once the watch is accurate and reliable. Two examples of this would be the Glashutte Original Senator Excellence and my Seiko Presage which keep excellent time and are excellent daily watches. So I asked myself questions like are my Patek Travel Time 7234A or weekly calendar 5122A really worth so many times more than my Senator Excellence and Presage? And the answer for me anyway was an absolute no. It did help though when the 5122A stopped working and had to be returned to Geneva hence failing the reliability test. Perhaps 5 hands from the centre was not such a good idea after all! :=-)
